It was a rare day out in Las Vegas. This day, it wasn’t egg-boiling hot or cold enough to freeze fingers. No, it was a nice breezy day with little clouds to shield the people from the sun’s glare. Just a nice day, indeed.

In an ally way between two casinos, there was a creaking noise that seemed to vibrate in the surrounding area. As it got louder, a blue box started to materialize out of thin air, blinking in and out. Not too long, a Police Box stood right in the end of the ally.

The doors were slammed open and two girls jumped out, coughing as smoke billowed out of the box.

“COUGH COUGH Who’s idea was it to bake in the Tardis! COUGH”. Reena yelled at her friend, slumping against the wall. Cooking sounded cool at first. I mean, it was a futuristic kitchen with cookbooks everywhere! But when the Doctor disappears and the Tardis goes haywire, well….

“COUGH Not me, that’s for sure.” Bry grimaced under her shirt as she tried to breathe in the fresh. Only to go off into a series of coughs again. “What the hell?! Is there a fire around here too?!”

The Asian reached into her pocket and pulled out a thingymajigy, something she borrowed from the Doctor, and checked their coordinates. “Let’s see….Oh! We’re in my city! That explains the cigarettes smell….. Wait….” She looked closer. “…IT’S THE 1950’S?”

"WHAT?" Bry screamed, grabbing the doohikey from Reena. Before she could fully express her disgruntlement, the exit doors from the other side of wall. Two bulky men stood there and were they holding guns??

"The hell is going on out here?" The shorter one spat out, taking in the scene. Two girls and a strange box that said Police. His hands reached for the gun.

“RUN!" They both screamed, turning tail and running straight out of the alley, into the streets.

The wedding was a splendid and simple one. It was tastefully covered in red and brown, a theme of autumn as it was taking place outside. Jordan stood as a groomsman as he watched one of his best friends kiss the girl of his dreams. Oh well. No point in getting sad over fate.

He looks to the crowd where family and friends alike sat with teary eyes at the beautiful couple. One person stood out though. It was the Best Man. Male, dark hair, dark eyes, nothing unusual. No, what stuck out was the look of saddened defeat in his eyes. And it was directed towards the groom.

The couple raced out the doors and got into the car, waving back at the crowds. The bouquet was thrown back, some middle aged woman found it and that was that.

Somehow Jordan found himself standing next to the slumped over stranger. Neither of them said anything for a while.

"….So I’m guess you had the hots for the groom?" He went for the blunt approach. What else could he say? The heartbreak phrase was passed and done for. However, it looks as if this fellow wasn’t done yet.

"….." No verbal response, but after a few awkward minutes, he nodded. Well, it was something that prevented him from leaving completely.

"…if it makes you feel better, I fell for the bride." Jordan sat next to him, leaning back in the wooden bench. With a sigh, he continued, "When I heard she was getting married, to Steven of all people, I was crushed. And then I was asked to be a best man?" A small, sad little laughter. "I-I couldn’t do it. So I was resigned to a being a part of the groomsmen. Funny, right?"

"….Yeah. At least you weren’t the sucker that became his best man." He replied, rolling his neck backwards. "It’s pretty fucked up alright. I mean, how many people can say they fucked the groom before his wedding night." It was spat out, abit bitterly. The guy sighed himself, following Jordan’s example of laying back. "But you….it’s my fault anyways. I couldn’t do the commitment and just…."

"Say no more. It’s fine." It was said and done, and there was no point in opening up wounds that weren’t even closed yet. Instead, they sat there in comfortable silence, a mutual understanding between them.

"…By the way, I should introduce myself. I’m Jordan, the weirdo who talks to strangers."
