@pun-demonĀ And I completely support your right to defend yourselfĀ againstĀ anyone whoĀ attacks you.Ā My biggest problem with these people is that they claim to be āfighting violence with violenceā when the only once incitingĀ any violence is them. Sure thereĀ areĀ a lot of people out there with very bigoted views, but that does notĀ automatically make said-person violent in nature. In many cases theyāre completely harmless despite their views. (Or do people really think JonTronās gonna personally drive to their homes and paint swastikasĀ all over them?)
One person brought up how Richard Spencer isĀ anĀ āActual Naziā¢ā, implying that violence against him was justified. I havenāt looked enough into his history to know how legitimate that is, but from what Iāve seen he couldĀ very well beĀ a white supremacist, or he could beĀ a very convincing troll. Whatever the case, I still donāt think theĀ attack on him was justified (especially since he was saying nothing to provoke theĀ attackĀ and was talkingĀ about his pin of goddamn Pepe the Frog).
But even more so,Ā at what point does the violence stop? Where is the line drawn? PeopleĀ apparently havenāt ruled out beating up minorsĀ (not for being a nazi, but just for supporting Trump). Does it end with punching, orĀ are we gonna see more cases of people being kidnappedĀ and tortured for their political views?Ā
People can hate Nazis or Trump or Spencer or MiloĀ as muchĀ as they like, but to promote violenceĀ against them or their supporters does nothing but enable people toĀ attackĀ anyone forĀ anything they deem even remotely problematic. Iām not even conservative in the slightest, yet since the election Iāve contemplatedĀ arming myself out of fear of being targeted for my unconventional views. I had hoped this fear would die down over time but it only seems to have gotten worse,Ā and Iām starting to wonder if itās better just to keep quiet just to keep myself safe.
