Albums I've listened to: Late Summer 2023 Edition
Okay, Last one for the summer, and most likely until Halloween.
Not a super hard "Summer Heat Death" but, idk, a pendulum between psychedelia and Hard Rock, and this and that...
hmm i think when it comes to using monster people as metaphors for mental illness, i think people need to branch out from popular creatures like werewolves n such because there are soooo many creatures out there that can fit the bill so much better... like they can all fill that "other" theme that these stories are about BUT they don't have to be the other that is dangerous or ugly. like, there are infinite creatures out there!! and like of course you don't wanna steer into stereotype territory, i think that's an easy thing to do with this sort of thing but cmon there are sooooo many creatures that could fit these metaphors better than just the same ol werewolves or vampires
no offense but it feels kinda weird to be like yeah u can make monster stories expressing your feelings about your personal experiences but only if you pick a way to do it that isnt unsightly and hasnt been done a lot before and fits my perception.
like if you have a specific professional piece u have a grievance with thats one thing but idk i think generally people writing stories about being a werewolf because it helps them contend with their feelings or whatever is cool.
psycada replied to your post: Also Aang, a pacifist monk who values all life,...
lord yeah i feel like so many let that seen kinda pass by? like it was already flying away, aang never HAD to finish it off but he just. does.
YEAH!!! the music is all dramatic and right before he does it, the camera is a close up of his face and the expression he makes is so chilling. It wasnβt self defense. He just wanted to hurt something.
i can't participate but i'm super excited for this!! tbh bakoda is probs the only thing i actively ship in the atla fandom
we're excited you're here! commenters and cheerleaders are important participants too :)

if you liked dororo you ahould totally read the original manga! plus there's at least like, five other adaptations since it's so old. they're all very good in their own right!
There were 5 of them?!?!? Holy shiiii-, I once saw this manga adaptation where Dororo was wearing a kimono and had a brief talk with Tahomaru who was riding a horse but I believe it wasn't published/translated at that time yet (saw them as raw scans). We get to see Dororo interact with Hyakki's mom but how abt the lil bro? π. I very much like to read it (gonna check again later hehe) π. The rest of the adaptations as far as I know was the stageplay (how was it?) and aaaand dunno if you could count that videogame I saw on youtube which art was realistic for me to look at. And then there was this parody anime featuring Hyakki in a wheelchair (hmmm idk how to feel abt that one ππ€).
It's really cool to think we've been blessed to have these adaptations (also recycled stories) but the way the anime studio ended the reboot 2019 was impactful enough for us to crave another season or at least an ova. But highly doubt it bc the other anime I know which recently got a reboot *side-eyeing Banana Fish*, Dororo + Banana Fish = MAPPA studio. Yep, Mappa is literally displaying candies in front of our faces only to take them away later. After Dororo 2019, I sorta indulge myself with amazing Dororo pixiv arts. π
Omg this one's long. Anyways, thanks for the ask! I really like talking about the anime/ships that I follow. :D Please, feel free to recommend/ask anything. I get talkative and passionate abt these things. βΊοΈπ
well after seeing many posts about it, i have picked up the first 2 books of wings of fire! im excited. i was a dragon kid in middle schooli shouldve read this series sooner
HELL YES i love wings of fire so much ;___; ive had the most recent book forever but havent gotten around to reading it (im very bad at things)...... but my faves are peril, whiteout, anemone, and sundew, whos ur fave so far?Β
hey, i just wanna say a lot of stuff in that beastars post is taken WAY out of context. haru isn't a minor and pretty much all the other stuff in that post is said by villains or not supported by the main characters... a lot of it is like. those ideas are expressed but that's not what the creator is trying to tell people. it's alright if you don't like beastars but that callout post is very flimsy
thanks for letting me know, it had taken me a long time to rb it bc i kind of got that vibe that it was missing some of the facts.
im still not gonna watch beastars tho. i never really liked the animal racism allegory brand of storytelling anyway.
