what do you think of Grian’s episode 66 of hermitcraft 6. Here's a quote btw; "do I need to tell Impulse he's a father now?"
ngl, I rewatched season 6 so many times but I never caught that lmaooo
It was the lovely @kenz-eaye who recently pointed out:
The Spuffy subtext of course is different, present all the way up to Season 7. The main idea being, they believe in each other. When an ensouled Spike was at the end of his rope about being anything but a monster,
Buffy reminded him of what he was capable of even before his ensoulment and that she believed in his capacity for good despite all the bad inside of him.
When Buffy was kicked out of the house by her own friends and family and was riddled with so much guilt and self-doubt in being capable of leadership and dealing with The First as a Slayer,
Spike reminded her of her fierce spirit and capacity for kindness amidst all of the shortcomings she hated herself for.
And here's what Joss Whedon had in mind for Season 7:
kenz_eaye and Whedon sharing the same braincell. ❤️
IOW, the Spuffy was Whedon's vision for two people who don't live in a power struggle with each other. And there's more of this vision in his 1992 BTVS movie -- a hilariously campy movie, btw, that is rife with misogyny sexism and gender stereotyping -- as it culminates with the two leads Buffy and Pike dancing together at the end:
Pike: I suppose you wanna lead. Buffy: No. Pike: Me neither. Buffy: This is a good thing.
Different story, different canon. Same message.
"We are equals."
