A male hooded parrot (Psephotellus dissimilis) at Pine Creek, NT, Australia
by Andrew Goodall
Bird #78 - scaly-breasted lorikeet (LC) [grey-green/olive colour morph]
In the wild, these guys are vibrant spring green, but olive and yellow coloured mutations exist in captivity. You may find them in wooded parts of eastern Australia; often they form mixed flocks with rainbow lorikeets!
Old World parrot (Psittaculidae) family
Which is the best bird?

Blossom-headed Parakeet Psittacula roseata
A parrot found in Southeast Asia. The blossom-headed parakeet was classified as near threatened by the IUCN Red List in 2013 because of its moderately rapid decline from trapping and habitat loss. While populations are stable or declining slowly in its range in India and Thailand, populations in Laos and Vietnam have declined very rapidly over the past three decades.

When I was at the Netherlands visiting some family, I was certain I heard a rose ringed parakeet, and I thought I was gen tweaking but I was right 😭🙏
Mascarin with fellow endemites of it's home island - Mascarene leaf-flower and Foetidia mauritiana
The exact colors of this birdie weren't known, so i had to base this painting on just the vague descriptions provided in a time before cameras were a more widespread thing lol. I had a lot of fun coming up with a reconstruction that's unique, while still keeping in mind their most possible characteristics :>
