It was a beautiful night. The air was crisp and cold, but not too cold, the skies were clear, and the moon and stars shone bright.
It was nights like these that made Kurt Wagner really appreciate God's creation. He wanted to enjoy it, and he might have had a bit of extra energy from being cooped up inside too long, so he donned his red-and-black suit, pulled on his gloves and boots, and left with a bamf. A few jaunts later landed him in New York City, a place with so many shadows and things to climb, it was basically a dream playground for the blue mutant. Few places were quiet, but he managed to find one without many people and began his fun. First, he scaled up a streetlamp, swinging around and around on the arm that held the light, then came to a stop, crouching on top. He paused, thinking about where to go, what to do next, when a familiar sound caught his attention.
A scream.
From his vantage point, it didn't take long for him to locate the source. A poor woman had been pulled into an alley where two masked men were attempting to mug her. A few quick leaps put him in the place he wanted to be, and with a flourish of smoke, he disappeared, only to reappear behind one of the men before the smoke reclaimed both of them and the next thing anyone knew, the man was falling to the ground.
Nightcrawler hadn't dropped him from very high, only high enough to stun him, so the guy was able to get up pretty quickly, but Nightcrawler was too fast. In a series of teleports, he effectively removed any weapons the men were holding and proceeded to deck them each. It was a mere matter of minutes before both men were on the ground and Nightcrawler was handing the lady back her purse with a bow. She didn't thank him, only took her purse and scurried away. It didn't hurt his feelings. She'd been through enough tonight.
He turned to his captives, planning on taking them to the local police station, when he noticed someone else standing in the shadows. He immediately went on guard. "Hallo? Who is there?"
