The man waiting for them in the living room was familiar to all of them. James had known him since he was a boy, and Sirius and Regulus had seen him daily while he and his team had put that wall up around their back garden. Lyall Lupin sat in Remus’s favourite armchair, staring grumpily back at them. 

“Ah, the reason my son is fleeing for his life, and I’ve been forced to return to ruddy Scotland,” Lyall growled, his eyes narrowed so much at Sirius that he wondered if Remus’s father could actually see him. 

“Yes, sir,” Sirius responded automatically. Lyall scoffed at him and asked Monty for a brandy. 

“Of course, Lyall,” Monty sighed, but Effie wasn’t having any of it. 

“Lyall Lupin, your son, is in love with this young man. It is not Sirius’s fault that his parents are raving lunatics. Sorry, darlings,” she added to Sirius and Regulus when she realised what she was saying. 

Regulus shrugged. “You’re just stating facts at this point.”

“Thank you, darling, but it still wasn’t a nice thing to say. I’ll refrain from name-calling in the future.” She rounded on Lyall again. “There is a perfectly fine gamekeeper’s cottage at the other end of the property if you’d rather stay out there. I will not let you make these boys feel bad because they were brave enough to leave that abusive household.”

Some flashed across Lyall’s face, but it was gone before Sirius could fully decipher it. 

“Fine,” Lyall huffed, accepting the glass of brandy from Monty. “I’ll behave.”

“Good. Now I think we could all use a good night's rest after the day we’ve had. Lyall, Albus, will hopefully be done readying your room for you. Follow me, and I’ll get you settled.”

Lyall downed the rest of his drink and rose to his feet. He pressed the empty glass into Monty’s hands and followed Effie upstairs, not even acknowledging Remus once. 

“Can I go stay in the gamekeeper’s cottage?” Remus grumbled. Monty patted him on the shoulder. 

“Sleep on it. Things will be better in the morning, you’ll see.”

“I highly doubt it if my dad’s got anything to do with it.”

Sirius reached out and took Remus’s hand in his. “Where exactly is he sleeping?”

“On the same floor Effie and I are on.”

“Thank you, Monty,” Remus sighed with relief, his head dropping onto Monty’s shoulder. 

“Not a problem, lad,” Monty chuckled, stroking his back soothingly. “Effie means it, though; she will throw him out if he doesn’t behave.”

“I don’t doubt her for a moment.”

"I really want to see that,” Regulus said from his spot under James’s arm. 

“Do not provoke him,” Sirius warned, pointing an accusing finger at his brother. Regulus’s face broke out into a wicked grin. 

“Perish the thought,” he said, completely unconvincingly. 

“I’ll keep an eye on him,” James promised and steered Regulus out of the room and off to bed. 

“Come on,” Sirius said to Remus, and they followed after James and Regulus. 

“I’m sorry if I’m grumpy for the next few days,” Remus apologised in advance. Sirius leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. 

“I forgive you,” he grinned, and they finally headed up to bed.

I need your help. There was a very talented writer @jawritter whose account was recently deleted. I dont know why or what happened and hope they're okay, but I crave their work. Series named Promised specifically. It's alpha!jensen x omega!reader and I loved it. I tried everything in my power to find it elsewhere but with no success so I'm asking you.

If there is anyone who would be able to retrieve it, find it through other websites or know the original writer and let them know how much I miss it and want it back.

Reposted chapters don’t work either.
