Lost History of Fashion
ChicSalute to Ruth Griffin and the Fringe for formulating the fabulous lost history of fashion of South William Street. Collaborations of independent fashion stores such as Costume, the Loft Market, Om Diva and Project 51 among others show us that in all the doom and gloom of the recession are some fabulous coming togethers of artistic minds.
It reminds us that this city is steeped in history and culture and a lot of that does encompass a history of fashion. It is hinted at in the archived collection of clothing at the Collins Barracks, but occasions like this remind us that every day we are walking down one of this city's streets, each of them has a history to tell. South William Street is embracing it's roots as Dublin's garment district with new inspiring talent coming to the fore. Although there was a fashion trail to follow yesterday, we should try remember there are many more trails to be discovered.
