This is what I’ve been working on for Feb. Other than my exchange fic, I won’t really have any writing to share until this is finished (a few months from now at least), so this post is also something to let people know I am still around, still creating, but working on a larger project.
Everything’s been coming along very well! I definitely see myself finishing my ‘first’ draft by the end of the month. After which, the real work begins.
I’ve been writing this differently than “Grey Canyon”. With that one, I had to make sure each time I wrote, it was worthy of publishing, or at least worthy of giving it to my beta. It was an experiment to see if I could follow through and finish something worthy of sharing.
For this fic, I’m doing what I’ll refer to as a “Zero Draft” instead of a first draft (not my term, but how Kate Cavanaugh talks about her drafting process on youtube, I have a link at the end of the post). It’s very very rough. VERY. But I’m getting the ideas out there on the page. Not worrying about the words that I’m choosing. Leaving out scenes that I can’t write in the moment. Description is sparse.
After I finish the zero draft I’m planning on following a similar process to Kate, letting it rest for a bit and coming back to it to re-write and fix and add scenes that I wasn’t able to do previously. (Then beta and hopefully release.)
I’m worried the drafting process will be a slog, but I hope my finished material will be all the better for it!

These are all finished or mostly ‘finished’ chapters. With the way everything is coming together I’ll probably have 24 chapters altogether. So nearly there!
Anyway, I’ll use the ‘Project N’ tag to chat about this AU in the future. Because there’s nothing like procrastinating writing by writing about writing, haha.
The name is also an homage to Kate, she uses it to refer to her projects so I thought I’d adopt it as well. Because I have to refer to it as something that doesn’t give away what it’s all about. (I have no title anyway.) I’m excited y’all.
