This is now a fascist country but there are more rights still left to be taken away. The right to vote. The right to marry. Reproductive rights. Pretty much any right that you can think of.

Last year I suggested people move and of course if you can, that's still a good idea. But if you can't, stay informed and organize.

A woman was reportedly photographed by ICE simply for following an ICE vehicle.

Project 2025 is a bit of a Rorschach test for your political leanings. If you’re a conservative with a heart of coal, the agenda created by The Heritage Foundation has objectively been a great success. According to the Project 2025 tracker, exactly half of the nearly 1,000 pages within the “Mandate for Leadership” pamphlet have been enacted in just eleven months. Not even one calendar year later, and the country is in a complete and utter state of disarray. Some sources even estimate that 80% or more of it is done. It’s dire out here. USAID - destroyed. Regulations reduced on crypto - done. PBS and NPR - defunded. DEI abolished. “Woke” policies abolished, whatever that means. Going through each and every agenda item that has been ticked off the list would frankly take far too long, but it cannot be understated that the agenda The Heritage Foundation created for Donald Trump has been approved at lightspeed. And there’s still more from the document to come. And there’s even more to come in the newly discovered Project 2026.

Now, in February 2025, while the rest of us were dealing with the trauma of what “flooding the zone with shit” looks like with a professional roadmap, the folks at the Heritage Foundation very quietly released a document known as “Restoring America’s Promise: 2025-2026 Policy Priorities.” If you went to The Heritage Foundation’s website right now, I actually don’t know how you would find this page or the accompanying pamphlet. Earlier yesterday, Jed was doomscrolling on Reddit and came across a viral post titled simply, “Project 2026 just dropped…” alongside the link to the pamphlet. The post was alarming. The document was alarming. And even more alarming: both the pamphlet and the “Priorities” page are dated March 2025, but have been sitting unnoticed on the Heritage Foundation since at least February 13, according to the Wayback Machine.

Meaning this document has been hidden in plain sight this entire time before going viral on Reddit. So, what’s in the sequel to Project 2025? Spoiler alert: nothing good. But thankfully, unlike Project 2025, The Heritage Foundation is short, sour, and to the point. It’s nine agenda items, and nine pages long. Some of it has already been enacted. Much of it hasn’t. “Over the next two years, we will engage in Washington to dismantle the deep state and in the states to restore the family, rebuild American institutions, and restore opportunity for all,” they write. “We are committed to promoting human flourishing for all Americans and championing the policies that get us there. Heritage will advocate for America to protect its sovereignty, defend its borders, and defeat globalism. Today, we’re casting a vision for nine of the most important challenges facing America—some familiar and others new. Policymakers must address these challenges to make America stabler, stronger, and safer today and for generations to come.”

POLICY 1: COUNTER THE CCP

“The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the most persistent and consequential foreign threat facing the American people today. It is building a military to challenge the U.S., stealing American technology at an unprecedented rate, and hurting U.S. workers with predatory economic policies. America is falling behind in this New Cold War. Heritage will push for decoupling key supply chains and key sectors of the U.S. economy from Chinese influence. Heritage will also expose U.S. firms lobbying for Chinese clients and work to end the flow of fentanyl from China that is killing 100,000 Americans per year. We will advance policies to confront China’s attack on American interests and values, develop a China-resistant economy, and ensure our military is prepared to meet any threats China may pose in the future.” [...]

POLICY 2: ELIMINATE REGULATION, INFLATION, AND SPENDING

“Government spending, regulations, and inflation are a tax on all Americans, especially working families who struggle to make ends meet. Prudent fiscal decisions can enable American families to flourish without politicians and bureaucrats controlling our lives. Reforming environmental and energy regulations will result in more affordable electricity and transportation and attract manufacturing back to America. The Heritage enterprise will advance a blueprint to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, spend less of our money, and save us from falling off the fiscal cliff.” By all metrics, this has been a failure for The Heritage Foundation, with the failure of DOGE, the rise of inflation and cost of living, and perhaps most importantly… the increase of the deficit by TRILLIONS. There isn’t much to say here right now; this is the clearest failure of not only the Trump administration, but of Project 2025/26 at large. We are somehow spending MORE money with a less fully functioning government. People have died. Jobs have been lost. This was always bad politics: now it’s a bad reality.

POLICY 3: END THE BORDER AND IMMIGRATION CHAOS

This has been an ongoing degradation of the state of immigration in America. It’s something we’ve written about at great length and covered regularly: from Kristi Noem to the evils of ICE, this is a part of the agenda that Trump was quick to adopt and even quicker to weaponize. DHS claims they have deported nearly half a million undocumented immigrants since Trump took office again… though those numbers are disputed, they’re still record highs for ANY first year in office.

Where this “chaos” goes even further than anybody ever could have imagined is with Trump’s disputed attempt to end birthright citizenship in America. This was a Day 1 executive order for Trump that was very quickly held up in the courts… because of course it was. If it passed, people born in the United States would not be entitled to citizenship automatically if their parents are in the U.S., either illegally or even just temporarily. And so of course, our extremely partisan Supreme Court agreed to hear a case challenging it early in 2026. “The United States is one of roughly 30 countries, including Canada and Mexico, that offer automatic citizenship to nearly everyone born there,” writes SCOTUSblog. “Birthright citizenship was added to the Constitution in 1868 when the 14th Amendment was adopted following the Civil War.” [...]

POLICY 4: ENSURE ELECTION INTEGRITY

“The right to vote in free and fair elections is the most basic civil right. Americans can have confidence in election outcomes only if they trust that the process is fair. Heritage will restore faith in elections and protect the right to vote for all Americans by advocating for commonsense reforms at the state and federal level like requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to vote and ending the practice of ranked-choice voting. We will always oppose a federal takeover of our elections by Washington elites.” AKA the desire to steal elections by any means necessary. You may have noticed that Donald Trump has been threatening to end mail-in ballots across the country for months now. You may also have noticed that he has not done that yet - and that a rather sizable amount of mail-in votes came in for Zohran Mamdani’s victory (though to be fair to conservative conspiracy theorists, not a winning margin). So why hasn’t mail-in voting gone away? That’s simple: because Trump isn’t a king, even if he thinks he is. [...]

POLICY 5: EXPAND EDUCATION FREEDOM

“The education system is failing our children—from the scourge of woke ideas like critical race theory and radical gender ideology to the lack of academic excellence and transparency. Parents, not bureaucrats, should be making decisions about their children’s education, aligned with their values. Heritage is focused on loosening Washington’s grip on K-12 and higher education. Heritage will work to safeguard parental authority over their children’s education, expand universal education choice, protect American taxpayers from bailouts of an academia wholly adrift, and reclaim institutions of higher education from the radical Left. Heritage will spearhead reforms at the state level to expand education choice while working to limit federal intervention in education, with the goal of ultimately eliminating the U.S. Department of Education.” There is officially a plan in place to end the Department of Education by late 2026. The office of elementary and secondary education is moving into the Labor Department, alongside Title I and Title II. The Office of Indian Education is moving to the Interior Department. Supervision of the Fulbright-Hays overseas research program, alongside all international initiatives, are moving to the State Department. Campus child care access and foreign medical school accreditation? The Department of Health and Human Services, for some reason. [...]

POLICY 7: PUT FAMILY FIRST

“Every child conceived deserves to be born to a married mother and father who will love, guide, and protect them throughout their lives. But family breakdown and rampant abortion tears at the soul of our country and saps it of strength and moral authority. Radical ideologies that deny social and biological truths about sexual embodiment, marriage, and unborn life poison our courts, our culture, and our laws. The Heritage enterprise will advance policies at the state and federal level to restore the nuclear family to the center of American life and to reduce both the demand and supply for abortion at all stages of human development with courage and compassion.” I will go out on a limb here and say this is the single most concerning part of the Project 2026 agenda. Pay close attention to the language saying that “every child conceived deserves to be born to a married mother and father.” This language not only confirms the Heritage Foundation wants to create a full and complete abortion ban, but this business about being born to a married mother and father should concern every single, or gay, parent. Much of this goes hand in glove with what Donald Trump and Heritage have already tried to do by defining “ideal” families as “biblically based” marriages of one man and one woman, with funding proposed for “traditional nuclear families. They are perfectly fine with “faith-based” discrimination against same-sex marriages. So why wouldn’t they fuck over queer parents some more? But it gets worse. When we talk about “conceived” children, it brings to mind another long running pet project of the Heritage Foundation: the desire to “regulate” IVF. As stated by Emma Waters for them in 2024, they want to restrict IVF clinics, limit one embryo per “intended mother,” limit the number of embryos created at each clinic period, prohibit anonymous egg and sperm donations, and transfer funds into “non-assisted reproductive technology fertility treatment.”
