When I was in London, I used to cross this tunnel, all covered with grafitis; I used to imagine that some grafitis would turned to life and swim around like fishes.

Galactic Hair

Some may say it looks like dandruff, and it may be, but it's cosmic dandruff. ❤

Hi all, I just submitted my latest short film, ANNAS, to the Sundance Ignite Competition!I would truly appreciate it if you would take a moment to watch my film and potentially cast a vote my way!

Log line: In the near future, a programmer discovers a glitch in her greatest creation.

This is officially our new favorite song: “Stand Up. Stand Now. Stand #withMalala.”

What’s even more amazing about this song is how it came to be.

To make a special screening of HE NAMED ME MALALA even more special we invited Girl Be Heard to stand #withMalala. Girl Be Heard is a nonprofit theatre company that empowers and encourages young women to raise awareness through performance pieces about global issues affecting girls. We were lucky enough to have two very talented members of Girl Be Heard arrange a song inspired by the words of the Malala Fund Anthem. The results were beyond impressive!

Before the start of the film, Girl Be Heard company members Tiff, Larissa, Bleu, Halle and Deanna took the stage in front of hundreds of guests, including Malala and her father, and performed a spoken word piece that introduced the song put together by two of the five amazing girls. Halle, age 16, wrote the melody, and Deanna, 21, contributed the guitar accompaniment. Both New York natives joined Girl Be Heard as an outlet for their passions: singing, songwriting and inspiring other young women.

When creating the song Halle says, “It took me about two hours of fiddling around with my guitar and figuring out the right chords and melodies. It wasn’t that challenging — Malala’s words were already so powerful.”

Malala’s words are powerful, yet the voices of girls like Halle, Deanna and all the Girl Be Heard performers are just as important. They help give meaning to Malala’s movement to improve the life of girls everywhere.

Halle hopes the song will also encourage listeners to learn more about the issue of girls’ education and take action. She says, “I hope that people watch the video and hear the song and truly stand with Malala and educate themselves about Malala’s story and about her cause.”

“I hope to open people's eyes to the power of art in activism. Especially on the topic of access to education,” Deanna adds. “As a college student, I value my education immensely and use art to advocate for the right to education among all girls.”
