The EPCOT that never was, as seen in model form. This originally appeared as “Medallion City” or “Progress City” as the finale to the Carousel of Progress at Disneyland (for the final act, guests ascended a ramp to the second floor). The WDW iteration of Carousel of Progress is single-story, and the model was moved to a space along the PeopleMover route. Its origins as EPCOT were never identified on the ride.

Vera was created with one purpose in mind: To create a minion that would never be tethered down by any particular number of limb. Want a creature with six limbs to help defend your evil lair? No problem, just stick six shiny, pointy limbs to your snake and you're good to go. Want a flying snake? We have wing attachments AND rocket attachments galore! She even has sharp, pointy fangs! At least, that's what Dr. Regina O'Malley wrote as her main pitch, but she hasn't been able to market her idea and now her and her rather amicable talking snake just try to eek out a meager existence in the polluted metropolis of Progress City. Just bringing back an older character. Her design really hasn’t changed much over the years...
