why, at the end of the semester, does everyone suddenly have a sister with an English degree who has definitely been the one helping them with their final paper and definitely not chatgpt?

Listening to your students and planning your lectures to end early means sometimes you end up hanging out in your classroom for the last 15 minutes scanning through a 6 hour lets play of Piglet's Big Game, and attempting to tye it into the lecture for the day
I don't know what font every single English guide and textbook was using in the 2000s, but I really hate it.
11 may 2026 || I know there will be the errant email here and there, but other than that...
the spring 2026 semester is over.
This past week I've spent almost 60 hours staring at a computer screen and I have such a headache right now.
02 may 2026. nothing but grading, dawn to dusk! I got quite a lot done. I have entered the state in which my brain has been absorbed by the computer. I have become one with the software.

I've been having a bit of a mental breakdown over the fact that I'm the oldest person in every room now. Well, the most millennial person in the room, anyway, because I've aged out of the study communities that got me through university, even though they've always been a great help to me. While everyone else is studying, I'm grading papers, and I feel like an interloper.
If there are communities, sites, apps that would be an appropriate fit for me, please let me know!
so i've been working on slowly revising my dissertation into a monograph (not required for tenure at my university, but it obvi wouldn't hurt) and an acquisitions editor just cold emailed me about my research from a related conference presentation last year and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
right, so I'm teaching an undergraduate course on feminist rhetorics and AI this semester, and since it has an admittedly hefty reading load + is run as a seminar, I've assigned reading "quizzes" that just ask students what they thought the point of the reading was, what they had to look up while reading in order to understand the text (and what they found!), what questions they have, etc. The "quiz" is due the night before class so that I can use their answers to shape our in-class discussion—I'm reading through them rn, and they're all(most all) so fucking thoughtful?? Like, I'm so proud of them because they a) clearly read the text and b) are writing their own thoughts not just AI summaries, and I'm !!!
