"Still here?" You turn around at the familiar voice, grinning softly at Peter Parker, the chemistry professor. He'd clearly been putting on and taking off goggles all day, because his hair looked a mess, and there were soft rings around his eyes. His smile was still the same, though, able to brighten your day even if you were dead tired.

"I work here," You tease, "Did you forget?"

"I didn't forget," He sets a used textbook on the counter, a student's name scrawled over the check-out slip, "Just didn't think you'd be here at eleven-thirty."

"If the students aren't sleeping, then neither am I." You gesture to the last person in the library other than yourselves, waving them away with a kind smile when they leave for the night.
