TW: Mentions of war.
Although he was young, Braden knew that his name carried a lot of weight; how could it not? He was Braden Weston, Jr., which was enough for the media to turn their heads and wonder what would become of Taylor and Braden Westonās eldest child. But even at an early age, he knew he couldnāt live up to the expectations ā he was never the best student, nor the most athletic boy on his sports teams. He didnāt have a āthingā⦠except for his incessant cooking. His love for it came to be on a whim one day after school, when nothing seemed appealing enough to eat, not even a microwavable snack. It was then that he decided heād hope for the best and make something himself, which miraculously turned out tasty. It quickly became something he did every day after he got home from school; a routine of sorts. Cooking was Bradenās āthingā.
Though Braden loved to cook, the last thing he wanted to do was go to culinary school after graduating. The eldest Weston attending culinary school? What would the media say? Nothing seemed appealing to him, and that was the reason why he decided to go into the military. It appealed to him because nothing else did, and also because there, heād be treated like anyone else. There, his name wouldnāt matter. There, heād be a regular civilian, not a famous coupleās eldest son.
It was a struggle at the beginning, for obvious reasons ā being in the military was no joke. Training drained him on a daily basis, but he finally found a purpose. Braden, it turned out, was a bit of a deadshot with his left; he never missed. Impressed by his aim, his captains knew they needed someone like that overseas and soon enough, he was being deployed. Though he was young and scared, he knew he was needed and was up for the arduous task. Braden was just a twenty year old fighting someone elseās fight. Soon enough, Braden was just a twenty year old getting honorably discharged from the military. While in battle, heād been shot twice ā once on his left shoulder, and once in his chest; a bullet that barely missed his heart. Though he wanted to continue, the nerves in his left arm made it impossible for him to be a ādeadshotā once again ā his hand shook every time he even tried. His services were no longer needed.
It was hard for Braden to find a new purpose, but he wanted to keep busy as to distract him from all the stuff in his head, all the images and flashbacks of what heād seen while overseas. Going to the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley quickly helped with that, though. There, he found a purpose ā he would open a restaurant as soon as graduation came around. With that thought and dream firmly in mind, Braden actually, for once, did well in school and graduated with honors. Soon enough, at a young twenty-four years of age like heād told himself, he opened a restaurant in the heart of Los Angeles ā Il Paradiso D'Italia. Though he wanted to cook his own recipes and be the head chef, his arm and hand would positively throb after a while, and he knew that he couldnāt handle a dinner service on a nightly basis by himself. He needed help. Help came in the form of an all-Italian arsenal, who made the restaurant both authentic and successful.
Braden always thought of himself as a tough guy; the military makes sure you become a tough guy. And though that mindset was still there, he knew that even ātoughā people sometimes asked for help. Hell, sometimes the tough thing to do was to ask. Braden knew he needed physical therapy, or anything to help with his arm ā if he wanted to be in the thick of things at the restaurant, he would need to learn how to control the shaking when things needed to be precise. It took a while ā years, really, but the shaking went from miniscule to barely noticeable. It was time to finally go to culinary school.
Though his first choice wasnāt Pacific State, it was the university closest to his first restaurant, as heād opened a few in the years after graduating. Heās not there all the time, and he doesnāt care to be, but at least heās there with his siblings. At least, that was a plus about attending university once more.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Braden stands at a tall 6ā²2ā³, with a muscular build to his body. Usually, he keeps his hair messy but short, and if heās feeling lazy, heāll go days without shaving; his facial hair is never more than scruff, though. To try to hide the gunshot wound scar in his chest, he has an intricate tattoo of a tiger.
YOU KNOW THAT I'LL BE YOUR PAPARAZZI
Weston was a common name, in itās time, though everyone knew of the Westons. They were Hollywoodās it couple. Taylor was a single name. Every other Taylor in the world was completely irrelevant. Taylor Weston had a complete capital on the pop music world. Braden, on the other hand was one of the biggest producers in the industry, though not as a common house hold name. Which is also why, though untraditional, Braden Simcox took her last name when the two married.

Indira Malina Weston, formerly Patel, did not have the easiest life growing up. She was born on May 5th, 1991, and named after her maternal grandmother who had died just months prior to her birth. Her mother, Reena, was an incredibly brilliant surgeon in Washington D.C., and met her father, Joseph, the son of the wealthy couple who owned the hospital where she worked, at hospital charity event, and after one too many drinks, one thing lead to another, and nine months later, Indira appeared. Reena knew that Joseph was not fit to be a father, he had been raised on money and a lack of responsibility, and it wasnāt long after she found out she was pregnant, that she also found out how heavily he used drugs, causing her to make the decision that she would raise her child alone. Reena had taken much care to prepare for her baby girl, however, nothing could prepare her for the complications of her birth, complications that would cause Reena to die before ever even being allowed to hold Indira. With both of her parents having already passed away, Indira ended up in the hands of Joseph anyways. Or more so, in the hands of his parents, who mostly raised her. When she was just a year old, her grandmother was diagnosed with alzheimerās, and then when she was three, her grandfather passed away from a heart attack, leaving her in the completely incapable hands of Joseph once again.
It wasnāt that Joseph didnāt love his daughter, he did, and he wanted to take care of her, but heād never worked a day in his life, and was much too concerned with his next high to worry about Indira. For the next three years, her father hired nanny after nanny to take care of her, using the massive amount of money his family had left him to pay for them, until finally, when she was six, he decided to up and move them both to LA, sheād never know why, being so young, heād never given her an explanation, but she remembered very clearly that this was when things got much worse. Suddenly, he didnāt care to hire her a nanny, all he cared about was getting high, there were times that Indie went days without food, or a bath, sometimes it would be days that she didnāt even see her father, heād never re-enrolled her in school, and since they had no other family, and all of their friends back in in DC, there was no one to see that what was happening was wrong. It was in this year, that her father, who had been so consumed by drug use, shot up in front of her on more than one occasion, including the last time, when he then fell to the floor and began seizing in front of her. Indie was only a month away from 7, and had no idea what she was meant to do, so she just hugged him, and cried, hoping that it would stop, hoping that he would sleep it off, as he had so many times before. It was only after days of him laying there, that he began to smell, forcing her to finally leave the house and knock on a neighbors door to ask for help.
Things after that were a whirlwind, all of his friends that she remembered from DC came to the funeral, and commented on how skinny she was, and how sad it was. One of his friends, with a daughter around her age said that she could stay with them, it was also him who insisted that all of his money, the money heād inherited from his parents, be put in a trust that couldnāt be touched until she was 21. Indie packed her things, going back to DC with them, and for the first time since her grandparents were alive, she was well cared for, she was finally back in school, though a year behind, but things were good. Though it was short lived, the courts wouldnāt give them custody of her, deciding that she should be living in the state where she was from, as to not shock her with too much change, despite the fact that sheād been all but one year of her life in DC anyways. It was then that Indie was placed in the foster care system.
She bounced around from home to home quite a bit, never staying anywhere for more than a year. And as she got older, she seemed to fall more into the role of mother in most of her homes, being put in charge of taking care of the younger foster kids, and there were always so many to take care of, as most homes took in as many as they could to get more money. Indie learned quickly to not let on about her family money, most caseworkers were too overworked to remember it and mention it to the foster parents, and those times they did find out, it just lead to trouble for her. Sheād be chastised for being a spoiled rich girl, bullied for how she cost so much when she had money of her own. It wasnāt as if she could touch it, she couldnāt give it to them if she wanted to, but they seemed to feel that it was her just misbehaving. So she learned to pretend she had nothing, because really, until she was 21 she did have nothing.
There were many things she saw and experienced in foster care that she wished she could forget, and yet there were some people that she wished she never had to leave. But in general, being thrown into all of those motherly roles, it made her more compassionate, she slid into that role easily, her heart growing with each new foster sibling she was told to care for. And it wasnāt all bad, sheād even ended up in a good home or two in that time, but none of it ever lasted. From when she turned 7, until she was 14, sheād been in a total of 12 different homes, when she was finally adopted by the Westons.
She was wary at first, not having had much time to get to know them before hand, but they seemed kind enough, and they had their own money, so she didnāt have to worry about hers, still it took years for her to admit to it, for her to feel open enough to talk about her past with her parents or new siblings. But she did feel accepted by them, and though it also took time, she eventually felt that she wasnāt meant to take care of her siblings, she was just meant to be one of them. Though, she still tries to mother them, she is sure they get quite annoyed by it. It was also when she was adopted that she began to go by the name Malina, her middle name, or Lina for short.
Now, as sheās gotten older, realizing more about what it was that she went through, it wasnāt long before she decided to use her life and fortune to do something to help. It felt like an obvious choice for her to go into social work, to help the little girls like her that needed it, but it never truly felt right to her. She still wants to help, but she doesnāt know how. Sheās just decided to come back to school, trying to find what it is that will speak to her.
BABY, THERE'S NO OTHER SUPERSTAR
Lina leaves her hair itās natural color, though likes to play with styling it different ways. She generally dresses in whatever she finds stylish, that could be jeans and t shirt today, and short skirts and crop tops the next. Mostly, she just finds anything and tries to make it work.
