One of oddest and uncomfortable advices I constantly get when people learn I own my apartment with 2 rooms is to rent a room out to someone. I don't want to go in long explanations that a) the place needs major fixing b) I mask so much I need my own space.
Because, honestly? Isn't that why people SPEND ridiculous money? To have their own private space that they don't have to share with strangers out of capitalism pressure? Why me saying I am not comfortable with that idea and just plain I don't want to do it isn't enough? Why does this idea even cross their minds?
For me, my depression den of a flat is a safe haven, where I close doors and can leave concept of dealing with people I don't cherish behind me, which I do daily as retail worker. And I think it's the case for most people, or at least a goal they want. So, I don't get why it's the first idea, not even a solution to problem I have mentioned, as soon as I learn of this fact. Like. Why?
Maybe we each need to create a little place in our lives for deliberate beauty, for intentional rest, for bird calls rising, for restoring the soul…
