matsuda finds it a little uncanny to look at otonashi sometimes. enoshima’s hair hasn’t been red since she first learned what bleach was. he feels a pang of jealousy every time someone else sees her because the natural red color of her eyes used to be something that only he got to see. now she’s walking around practically naked in front of everyone. it’s unsettling.

the insistence that otonashi bears a striking resemblance to his mother is a little overblown. sure, his mother was a redhead around the same height, but that’s about where the similarities end. the biggest thing they have in common (and what makes matsuda feel the sickest) is the memory loss.

otonashi’s sketch of matsuda in her notebook has been revised so many times that the page is starting to wear thin from all the erasing.

at one point in dr0, otonashi notices a deep loneliness in matsuda’s eyes. this is partially because matsuda isn’t as good at hiding his emotions as he wants to be, but it’s mostly because otonashi still knows how to analyze him instinctively. she doesn’t realize it, but she can read him like a book in a way that nobody else can.

Girlfriends would be more fitting (bc honestly, look at Yasuke)
