*cracks my knuckles* alright y'all asked for it so here it is

so ok starting off with like.. a little headcanon backstory?

i think engie grew up pretty isolated as a kid. not to say he wasn't social, he loves talking to and entertaining people, just that.. well, when other kids were playing dress up and pretending to go to the moon, he was reading chemistry textbooks for fun and taking the toaster apart to see how it worked and putting it back together again. i also think he straight up went from fifth grade to high school and it's hard to make friends with people who treat you like a child (because you are one) and who you have little to nothing in common with. it wasn't until he was in his 20's that he started interacting with people his own age and to this day, that loneliness still hasn't left him

as for medic, i don't think he was terribly social to begin with, not to mention i think he had really bad undiagnosed adhd and really strict parents and the other kids in his area just thought he was kinda. weird and didn't want to hang out with him. he ended up plunging himself into studies instead, only to feel like he was losing himself (whoever that was) but not really knowing what to do until one day he just couldn't fucking take it anymore.

though under different circumstances, they both grew up ostracized from the people around them and to find someone who feels exactly like you do, who knows your pain and helps you ease it, even just a little, is something rare that you kind of just. latch onto

as they are now, medic and loud and wacky and willingly unhinged while engie is soft spoken and logical but equally capable of mayhem and not only the concept of them enabling each other to conduct their experiments (that are perhaps.. a little unethical, but who's really keeping score at this point) and getting into trouble-

but also, to an extent, them still being lauded as two of the more responsible mercs who have to do all sorts of things to make sure their team doesn't literally fall apart and knowing that even through all the wrongs and abuse they go through every single day, they'll still have each other to lean on because nobody tells you how hard it is to play god

and really when it boils down to it, they're lonely people who never really healed and to finally have someone who so deeply understands you in a way that you never felt that you would be allowed to be understood? who makes that empty feeling you've had since you were a child disappear, who makes you feel like you can be whole?

Camp NaNo 2020 WIP

“There are always choices in life,” Max said, “until there are not and fate starts making them for you.” She paused, as if waiting for Foraoise to speak, and when he did not, she continued, voice just slightly more urgent. “Be careful. There are only so many forests in the world, after all.”

How ominous. Foraoise wet his lips, and cracked a smile. “I’ll be careful. I promise.”

“Please do.” Max’s returning smile felt like a death sentence. “I miss trees in the future.”

And then she was gone, leaving Foraoise alone to wonder what the future held without any forests.

Here it is!! A WIP I’ve been thinking about for so long and am so excited to write!! Until The Sun Falls is a book about gods, revenge, broken relationships, time fuckery and has a choose your own ending aspect I’m super excited about, and stems from an rp server I’m in on discord revolving around gods!!

I’ll reveal more information on it Later and will try to post a short excerpt for every 5k milestone that I hit, but for now, enjoy a:
