Lord Wolfenden who chaired a committee which produced a report advising the decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK. This was backed by councillor Alan Horsfall and Antony Grey who were both activists. Decriminisaltion of homosexuality was later pushed again by Lord Arran. MP Humphry Berkeley also tried to introduce a bill to legalise homosexuality. It was eventually partially decriminalised so long as it was in private and between two men over 21 (lesbianism was never illegal) after the efforts of these people and MP Roy Jenkins.
