New covers for my Mayrin Story-arc of the Dark Crystal prequel comics!
One word:
cRaB pOdLIng
New Info about Mayrins Story Arc! I absolutely want to know more about the Sifa Pirate Gelfling now and his relationship with Mayrin!
I saw this and I squealed. Weâre getting a All-Maudra Mayrin storyline and It seems that Skeksa will be in it.
I love this page. So many good things revealed here.
Maudra Argot calling UrLii âOld Fosselâ is peak old lady energy and I love it.
UrLii explaining that âSongâ and âProphecyâ are often mixed up by Gelflings and thatâs itâs hard for them to know whatâs a prophecy and what isnât is absolutely fancinating.
âWhen two join to wield, will foesâ fates be sealedâ is a bomb-ass Prophecy. You could go farther and say when two people join to wield the sword, not only are their foesâ fates are sealed but also their own fates are connected to each other.
UrLii confessing to being a petty Mystic and wanting to have fun with Ordon at the expanse of his ever-growing anger kills me.

Preview Pages of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance graphic novel!
We see Hup and Finn entertain another Spriton crowed. This time its far from a pub so the chances of running into a Skeksis is slim.Â
Finn talks in a very prestigous and pompous way about how injustice keeps him up at night... weird flex but okay.Â
Also, the Damsel he rescues in his sotry looks way to silmilar to the princess from his last story (Thats so creepy holy shit). Iâm guessing that in every story he tells to his audience, in his mind, the damsel looks like the princess he failed to save.Â
Hup passes around a tin pan around the campfire and the Spritons each plop a gem or crystal into it. I really like the idea of Gems and Crystals being a form of currency in this world. I know other fantasy worlds have had gems as currency before, but in terms of relivance to the story and world, it actually fits considering that the thing keeping this planet alive is a giant white and purple crystal.Â
Speaking of having gems as currency--If you look at the bottom right panal of the second page, you can see a gelfling check each of the gems to see if their acually real. Its kinda akin to how in the U.S people will hold the dolloer up under a light to see if its real or biting a peice of gold to see if its acually gold and not some fake metel made to look like it .I really like that attention to detail, where even in a fantasy world, money is money and if it aint real you dont get shit.Â
It also seems that Armalings are also used as transportation in Thra as well. Its not just landstriders who are used. Its nice to know that the armalings have another purpose besides being wheels on a carrage. But it seems as though the Armalings are a cheap form of transportation. If you cant afford a Landstrider, then you have to use a Armaling instead.
The Armaling also has a name! Its MarengaxÂ
Also, it seems that Armalings are quite expensive to feed. Quite Relatable for pet owners.Â
Im also willing to bet this is going to be the village where weâre going to meet the female gelfing in.Â
Three new preview pages from issue #4 of The Duel Glaive Arc!
Notable things:
Yaâll, I aint going to lie, I was not expecting to be slapped so hard with the feels this early into the issue. Despite my over-all nit-pics with this arc of the graphic novel series I, like so many other people, fell in love with Fara. This Arc reallymade her a more interesting character, and I love her even more.Â
This scene is giving me BONE by Jeff smith flash-backs over here! (points to anyone who knows what im talking about.)Â
I do wish weâd have gotten more of Fara and Her mother, just because while this scene is very emotional, It would have been just a stab if weâd gotton the same level of pain and guilt as we did with Mayrins death. Faraâs mothers death is defiantly a gut punch of sadness and feels, but Mayrins death was more of a dropkick of depression.Â
Big Brother Ordon coming to the emotional rescue! Ordon and Fara definitely have one the best relationships to date within the series now. I love how they start as enemies, mainly in the fact that Ordon is very cold and distant while fara is just a energetic, stubborn ball of sunshine. And slowly but surly they develop a very big-brother/little sister complex with each other. Itâs so satisfying to see all of that hard work in over-coming differences pay off in the end!
âWhen we win the battle, you will lead our clan. And I will follow.â oh god my heart!
âShe died for our clan, to give them a chance. And She will rest well with Thra knowing she did her best. But our warriors, our village, they need a new light in these dark times. You are that light.â Tears for days...!
I love how this comic doesn't shy away from the more gory stuff, such as showing off Faraâs motherâs bloodied bandage and bloody sword next to her. The gelfling the background add such a nice touch to the scene. A mother holds her child, a gelfling touches the hand of a companion on the ground. Several elders are hobbling about, while a gelfling in the distance sits and rests..Â
You would think of how drenched the Maudraâs bandage is with blood, Fara would have at least a small stain somewhere on her chest.Â
Also nice detail that they kept the pick pepto-bimol blood. ( Note: The Pepto-bismol blood did make an appearance in issue 2 when Ordon was bit by the Aratheim. I just didn't notice at the time. I had figured it was maybe artiest interpretation of the Araithm venom.)
More Preview Pages from The Glaive Arc of the Dark Crystal Aor Graphic Novel!
Where the fuck was this art-style in the beginning of the Graphic Novel?! I dont know if this is what Boom Studios normally does with their antology comics(have one artest draw 3/4â˛s of the whole comic, before switching to a new artist), But they seemed to have fully replaced Mitias Basla with Esdras Cristobal. Honestly, Where was Cristobal from the very start?! It would have made the comic so much more interesting and pleasent to read. Again, No harp on Mitias Basla and his amazing art so far, but from what weâre getting from these preview pages, I will take Cristobal over Basla any day.Â
Its confimed that Maudra Argot does indeed use her wings. Since she is female, that a no-brainier, but it confirmed that the old lady flew a few times before her bad eye-sight took completely over.Â
Maudra Argot looks so much like Grandma Ben from Bone in this art-style. I absolutely approve.Â
Ordon finally saying thank you to UrLii is amazing.Â
I just love both Ordon and Fara both call Argot just âMaudraâ. They dont use her full name, as she is mainly just âMaudraâ to them now. It might just be out of courtesy to a female of high standing, But i like to think that, because of how old she is, they just simply call her âMaudraâ. Kind of like how some people call older women grandma even though theyâre not related.Â
It kills me that Argot just simply picks Ordon up by cloak. She doesn't do like Deet did with Rian and hold him to her chest. She just simply grabs his cloak and jumps. Lovely.Â
Its chilling to see just a dead random Gelfling slumped on the dead body of a Aratheim. It really calls back to the first issue when we saw Gelfling being empailed on the aratheims legs... Its chilling.Â
