The hunting hound-things from the Predators movie were a stupidly impractical design. How do they do anything with all the forward-facing long horns? Shorten those and the design could work. I liked the huge shoulders; they reminded me of Bronx from Gargoyles.
I made this as either a trade or a prize for a DeviantArt friend back in 2012. Someone has just launched the tennis ball, and this sprightly fellow is going to catch it. And probably destroy it. As doggies do.

*Dajhitt, night*Ā
They all sat in a tree a distance away from the base, watching as the base erupted into flames. The animals of the jungle fled, screaming and shrieking as the base exploded in the distance. The beautiful purple sky of Dajhitt was nearly orange from the massive explosion.Ā
Rātka leaned back against the trunk of the tree, the Deltaās standing in front of him. Scorch watched the base with the most excitement, oohing and aahing whenever a loud explosion or pretty color appeared.Ā
Rātka couldnāt help but feel pride and a little bit of amusement.Ā These clones are good at their jobs and definitely entertaining. A few more explosions rang out in the night, the ground shaking slightly. The base would burn for a few days, but the damage it would do to the surrounding jungle would help life bloom once again.Ā
Scorch clapped his hands together like an excited pup when the base exploded for a final time. Rātka couldnāt see his odd human expressions under his helmet, but he knew he was wearing one of those wide grins on his face. His excitement caused Rātka to chuckle.Ā
āNothing more beautiful than destruction.ā Sev piped up, patting Boss on the shoulder. Boss and Scorch laughed at that, Fixer most likely ignoring them both. They all stood there, watching as the base burned bright in the dark night. They probably stood there for a few hours, the fire mesmerizing.
Ā The fire did lose its appeal at one point, fatigue beginning to set into the Deltaās. They all eventually climbed down the tree, standing at the base of it as the fire reflected off armor and helmets with a brilliant sheen. Rātkaās shiny scales almost reflected the light as well, his darkest patches of color looking even prettier in the light.Ā
Boss walked to Rātka, the two men grabbing each other's hands in a mighty shake. Boss had to crane his neck to look up into his helmet face, Rātka looking down in a similar manner. Respect radiated from them both.Ā
āWe greatly appreciate your help Rātka. You really did keep your word and that was admirable of you.ā Boss spoke, trading places with Sev so Sev could also shake his hand. Scorch and, surprisingly, Fixer, doing the same.Ā
Rātka gripped Fixerās hand the longest, āAnd I thank you soldiers for not killing me. I had fun, it was greatly entertaining.ā He let go of Fixer, stepping back to look towards the starry sky. As the fire burned out the beautiful stars became more and more visible with the darkness.Ā
āWe should stay in contact. I believe we could both benefit from an allyship.ā Rātka spoke, Boss looking at his men before glancing back towards him. Boss removed his helmet, placing it under his arm.Ā
āYou got yourself a deal, big guy.ā Boss grinned that odd human grin and gripped Rātkaās wrist once again. Rātka trilled and bowed his head, removing his helmet. The two warriors pressed their foreheads together, sealing the allyship.Ā
As they stepped away Rātka checked his wrist computer, clicking his mandibles together. āWould you oomans like a ride back to the nearest Republic base or allied planet?'' They all shook their heads nodding yes.Ā
āFuck. Please, I donāt want to be here another week waiting for some passing by fleet to grab us. Iāll relay that weāre catching a ride to a nearby base to Triple Zero then we can go.ā Boss spoke, walking past his brothers so he could have a bit more quiet to comm Coruscant.Ā
Sev punched Rātka;s shoulder playfully, āYou gonna show us your trophies?ā Rātka nodded, chuckling. āWhy of course!! I have plenty on my ship!ā Scorch clapped his hands together again before shaking Fixerās shoulder like an excited kid.Ā
Rātka chuckled loudly, placing his helmet back on. Boss returned and Rātka spoke, āFollow me oomans. My ship is not too far away.ā The Deltaās nodded, Boss placing his helmet back on. They quickly moved after Rātka, who had to keep his strides short so the clones could keep up.Ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a short hike they arrived at a large clearing. Before Scorch could say anything about Rātkaās ship being gone, it shimmered into existence. Of course it had cloaking just like the Yautja did.Ā
Fixer muttered a curse as Rātka walked to his ship, slamming his massive clawed hand against a panel near a door. He muttered some words in his odd clicking language, the door sliding open silently.Ā
As the Deltaās walked into the sleekly built ship after the Yautja they were all in instant awe. They heard Rātka laughing at their āoohsā and āahhs.ā But the Deltaās paid no mind to his laughing as the sleek door closed behind them.Ā
The ship was almost just as humid as Dajhitt itself. A small cloud of fog was all over the floors, it was almost so thick they couldnāt see their boots. The ship was a little dark, illuminated by some minor red lights.Ā
Rātka spoke more in his odd language and some brighter lights came on, the Deltaās adjusting by turning off their night vision. They followed Rātka down a short but yet very wide hallway into what must be the cockpit.Ā
āI will show you my trophies once I get us on a flight path.ā Rātka spoke, sitting down in one of the three giant chairs that sat in front of a crazy looking panel. The Yautja were even more advanced than the Deltaās knew.Ā
Fixer stood beside Rātka and watched him press buttons and switches, all seeming to melt back into the console after being called by some odd hand movements. Fixer was in awe, most of the buttons and such seemed to be odd little holographic bubbles, which just dispersed back into the console after use.Ā
The Deltaās could spend years studying this odd technology. They wouldnāt of course, that was far too boring for them, but it was a cool idea.Ā
āThere we go.ā Rātka spoke, spinning his chair around and standing up in one swift movement. The Deltaās hardly felt the ship moving underneath them, all they felt was a slight hum under their boots. It was delightful and far less noisy than anything they had ever been on.Ā
Before Scorch could touch an odd button he wasnāt supposed to Rātka walked out of the room, his brothers following. Scorch rushed to follow, catching up to the group after a second. He looked around the massive and very plain steel colored hallways as they moved. The hallways are incredibly wide and tall, all seeming very long.
They walked by numerous sliding doors, most requiring Rātkaās handprint to open them. As they walked all four brothers realized they had no idea about the layout, and they probably wouldnāt find out. Scorch was nearly dying of his curiosity by the time they arrived at a massive set of steel doors, which slid open when Rātka stopped in front of them.Ā
All four Deltaās gasped and cursed in unison at the sight. It was a massive room just full of trophies, the walls almost entirely covered. Skulls of numerous creatures were everywhere, some even human. The human ones even had their spines attached.Ā
In the back wall right in front of the door was one of the biggest skulls the Deltaās had ever seen. Sev gasped and walked to it, looking up into the massive skull. It was a creature with an elongated head, the mouth full of what seemed like thousands of sharp teeth. It even had an inner mouth!! But what was really incredible wasnāt just the lack of eyes, it was the giant crown-like bone that surrounded the head.Ā
As Sev admired the skull,Ā Scorch looked at some pelts that hung from a wall, one seeming to be a Wookiee pelt. Next to it was a stuffed Wookiee and it looked like an elder, the pelt almost entirely gray and the face scarred. Elderās were not to fuck around with, but Rātka did and won.Ā
Boss looked at a section of the wall that was covered in armor. One was a set of Mandalorian armor. āHoly shit.ā He muttered, looking at the helmet. Rātka seemed to puff up with pride at their reactions as he set his droid heads on the wall next to some human skulls.Ā
Fixer examined the large table in the middle, a massive striped pelt spread out on it. The table was covered in odd tools and contraptions. He ran his fingers along the soft pelt, marveling in the thin but beautiful pelt.Ā
āThat is where I usually clean my pelts and prepare my trophies for display. I have another room just for cleaning and examining kills. I also do research thereā¦.. It is what you oomans call aā¦..a lab? Aā¦labā¦. Laboratory?ā Rātka spoke, stumbling over the Galactic Basic words.Ā
Fixer nodded, āSounds about right. Can I see it? This room is impressive but I bet your research is even more interesting.ā Rātka nodded in excitement, puffing out his chest with more pride.Ā
āOf course! Of course. Itās just through here.ā Rātka spoke, walking to another door in the trophy room, it slid open revealing a massive room. Fixer gasped and followed the Yautja in, the door staying open so Rātka could keep an eye on the other three in his trophy room.
Boss followed them, Scorch and Sev staying to discuss some of the incredible trophies. Rātka explained some things, while giving the two clones a mini tour of his massive lab. He even showed Fixer the massive skinned jungle cat that was on a table, blood being drained from the carcass slowly into vials.Ā
āIām doing some minor tests on its blood.ā Rātka spoke, running his claws along the beast's claws. The jungle cat had claws almost as large as the Yautjaās. Boss ignored Fixerās questions and Rātkaās happy replies about the cat as he walked to a massive glass jar.Ā
In some odd looking clear fluid a weird hand looking creature floated, itās tail twitching as it breathed. āWhat. The. Fuck.ā Boss spoke, getting closer to the glass. The odd hand-like creature awoke, slamming its body into the side of the thick glass.
Boss shouted and fell back onto his ass, his pistol pointed at the creature. It hugged the glass from the inside, some odd tube from its inside moving around the glass. Rātka laughed and helped Boss up.Ā
āDo not worry about what that isā¦ā¦.It is locked up and very safe. It has no chance ofĀ impregnating you. Do not worry!ā Boss stared up at Rātka. Fixer shook his head and ran a hand down his faceplate.Ā
āFROM WHAT?! Impregnating me???? ā Boss spoke, throwing his arms out and motioning at the animal. Rātka patted Bossās helmeted head. āDo not worry! Your kind should never have to see one of these. Youāre fine. Do not worryā¦.You wear helmets anyways. If you do ever see one just donāt let it attach to your face.ā Rātka patted Bossās helmeted head once more.
Rātka walked back into the trophy room before a very confused Boss and Fixer could ask any more questions. The two clones followed him, sharing a glance with one another as they walked. They did NOT like the weird hand-like creature that apparently wanted to knock them up.Ā
Rātka did a bad job of watching Scorch and Sev because once he walked back into the room his twin Hellhounds were out. Rātka laughed when he saw the two massive beasts on the floor getting belly rubs from the two commandos. Both had removed their helmets so his hounds could smell them better.Ā
āI see they finally came to investigate the commotion.ā Rātka spoke, his hounds looking at him with their tongues lolling. Scorch nodded, one hound reaching up to lick his face with her long black tongue.Ā
The hounds were both a dark jungle green color with bright red markings. Their tusks and horns were a rough bone white color, one having dark markings on her horns. The long spike like hair that ran along their backs was an off white almost yellow color, and it stood tall when they were hunting. Currently it was relaxed against their patterned hides. They were nearly identical, one only being slightly darker with markings on her horns.
āThese are my ladies. Kwei and Setgāin. They are my tracking hounds. Their names roughly translate to Sly and Deadly in your language.ā Rātka spoke as he watched Sev smooth the long spike-like hairs on Setgāinās back, the large hound purring. Sev and Scorch stayed away from the large tusks and horns that protrude from their faces.Ā
āOh what pretty ladies!! Theyāre so friendly! They kinda stink but theyāre awfully cute!ā Scorch spoke, scratching around the tusks on Kweiās face. Sev nodded, Boss and Fixer joining them in petting the massive hounds. Rātka could not help but feel great amusement at their love for his Hellhounds.
He did not mention to Scorch exactly how his twin ladies could rip them all apart in seconds if he commanded it, their tusks perfect for maiming and goring. Their thick hides and bones would protect them well against their primitive weapons.
Rātka looked at his wrist computer, it would only be a few more āhoursā until they arrived at the closest Republic Base. It was more so an allied planet that the Republic had a large clone population on. It would be safer for him to land there anyways.Ā
Rātkaās leg ached slightly due to the artificial gravity in his ship, but he ignored it. He rolled his fully healed shoulder and leaned down to rub the heads of his hounds. He loved his smelly Hellhounds; the girls did their jobs very well.Ā
āLet me show you a place where you four may rest, we have a bit of a trip ahead of us. Yes, the Hellhounds may accompany you. They like you anyways.ā Rātka spoke, the Deltaās standing up and following him out of the room. The hounds right on their heels.Ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Inner rim, some local Republic planet, a few hours later*Ā
āWe are here.ā Rātka spoke as he landed the ship with ease in a clearing. The cloaking of his ship kept it completely untraced by the Republic's presence. Yautja technology was truly far more advanced than the Deltaās had guessed.
āYou must move quickly. It wonāt take long for a patrol to run into my ship.ā Rātka spoke, clicking some buttons and muttering to himself in his language. The Deltaās watched him and moved in time with the Yautja when he stood and walked out.Ā
Rātka stopped at the door to his ship, the ramp going down silently. He commanded his Hellhounds to sit, the Deltaās telling the friendly hounds goodbye first. They each shook Rātkaās hand and gave him slaps on the back.Ā
āWe hope to see you again Rātka! Maybe even meet more of your incredible kind.ā Scorch spoke, giving a dramatic bow for his goodbye. Rātka nodded once in agreement, crossing his arms and chuckling lightly.Ā
āI hope to see you oomans again as well. We were an incredible team! I could imagine you teaching one of my pups a thing or two, or perhaps the other way around. But we shall see.ā He chuckled, bowing his head and punching his chest twice as a final farewell.Ā
The four clones waved and quickly disappeared into the thin forest, heading in the direction of the base. Once they were out of sight Rātka walked back into his ship, his hounds following.Ā
āLets go home my girls.ā Rātka spoke as he rubbed the heads of his Hellhounds.Ā
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*The Republic base, a little bit later.*Ā
āHow the Kriff did you four crazy lads get here?ā A guard spoke as the Deltaās walked into the base.Ā
āItās a long story brother. How much time do you have?āĀ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ā
(Future spoiler! They do meet again! Iām absolutely going to write some side stories to this fic! I fell in love with their dynamic!)
