Army Application Process: #6
I had Pre-ADSC last Wednesday. Was a bit of a rush as the train line I was going to be travelling on had had a landslide on it so I had to get a bus. When I arrived in Grantham we were given numbered bibs. First thing to get out of the way was the 1.5 mile run, which I don't actually know the time I ran it in (annoyed) however I know I came 3rd (was 1st up until the last 100m), and I'm damn proud of that.Â
Next up was the Team Tasks, which I think I did okay in but I didn't get really get that involved in as most of my time was spent thinking... Oops. Went back inside the classrooms for our Icebreakers, and to be quite honest some of the other candidates icebreakers really weren't good. I think I did mine well, however froze for a second when I was up in front of everyone and forgot everything I was going to say (not good).Â
We had lunch which was actually quite nice but it was pretty awkward as we had to walk past all the regs in our coloured bibs and it was pretty embarrassing. :') After lunch we had a debrief, which my recruiting Sgt told me I did pretty well so I was happy with that.
Rang up the ACIO today to find out about spaces on my job choices, turns out there's currently 15 A grades on the waiting list for Aircraft Technician with only 7 spaces left at Pirbright in July and 6 spaces left at Winchester in October, so if I want that job I'm going to have to be on the top of my game at ADSC - which I can do. My second choices (Communications Systems Engineer) has 50 spaces of which 21 are already filled, so it sounds like a good second choice.
I've also applied to the RAF as well. Seems as my first choice job is done in 2 services I thought why the hell not. Both services appeal to me in different ways. We'll just see where it takes me, :)
