#pre arrival

The anxieties were bubbling only slightly in her chest as she exhaled, fingers tapping against her thigh as she glanced out the tinted windows of the car. Their arrival was seconds from happening, and the woman still hadn’t shook the unnerving sentiment from her chest. So with an audible sigh, she looked over towards her husband, attempting to offer him her most reassuring smile. “Ric,” They’d come so far from the last event, when she’d asked him to accompany her, and he’d refused. The memory still vivid in her mind, as she sat down at the bar only to realize he was next to her. And as she had rose to leave him, he had asked her to stay. Not to mention the confrontation with Adrian just hours later as the roof nearly gave in, and she watched him with Emilie. “--are you ready for all this?” The words left her lips just as the car pulled up to the curb. 

So I am already procrastinating. There are a lot of things I have to do before I leave the country so I’m making a little work in progress to do list. I will add things as I remember what else I have to do...

To do:

- look up language courses

- Gastgeschenke!

- get insurance (after arrival)

- open a bank account (after arrival)

- improve cooking skills (read “5 a day” website and tips & tricks)

- improve household skills

Already done:

- book a flight

- look up sim cards

- look at google earth and pictures for way too long

- join facebook groups

- look up public transport (read: procrastinate without having to feel guilty)

- look up churches near you (really why did I do this before I got insurance?)

- look up packing lists online

- read the au pair guide 8492 times

- look up my banks international withdrawal fees

- read the “positive parenting” guide

If your college has given you a reading list, it’s not a bad idea to take a look at some of that. If they haven’t given you one but you’re really keen, lots of colleges have theirs online for public access, do some googling and read another college’s list. 

If you haven’t done further maths (although you probably have) catch up on that stuff. Even if you have done fm, make sure you’re really solid on it and spend some time with parts you were shaky on.
