Madhya Pradesh assembly polls: Record 71 per cent voting registered

The assembly polls for 230 seats were concluded in Madhya Pradesh on 25th November 2013. The polls made history as it is for the first time that  over 71 percent voters used their voting rights. Madhya Pradesh recorded the highest-ever voter turnout of over 70 per cent, which is over 1.2% polling of 2008.  Madhya Pradesh assembly elections began on 25th November 2013, Monday at 8 am amid tight security and ended at 5 p.m. No major incidents of violence were reported during polling hours in the state. 

 While all candidates and political parties are showing confidence of winning maximum seats this time, the voters are observing silence and waiting 8th December 2013,  Sunday when results of all 230 seats  will be declared.

Great enthusiasm was noticed in the voters of cities and villages of the state. Not only young but old voters also were seen keen to cast their votes. Kanchanbai Patidar (104 years) from Piplodi village in Ratlam district was so much interested to use her right that she reached polling booth by 8.05 a.m. Laxmibai with husband Chetram  from Khedi village (Khargone] casted vote by sailing on a rubber tube as the polling booth was as the bank of river. These scenes reveal awareness of voters and those who did not use their voting rights, should take lesson from them.
