littles that NEED to have their blankie in hand in order to wet their diaper
the way that a blankie is a soft, comforting object, one that not only can be held in their actual hands, running their fingers over the fabric as they relax and slowly wet their padding, but one that can be wrapped around their shoulders, a comforting presence and weight
• the littles who were having such a difficult time getting used to using their padding, who realize they feel the safest and coziest while wrapped up in their blankie, and finding that it works it's magic to not only relax their nerves, but also their bladder
• littles that take that a step further, who are too shy to use their diapers out in the open, where anyone can not only look over at them, but where someone might even make eye-contact with them while they're in the middle of wetting - so, instead of hiding behind a couch, or underneath a table, or inside a closet, or just generally away and hidden from inquiring eyes, they simply pull out their blankie... and pull it directly over their head
if they can't see anyone else, then anyone else can't see them! they can simply pull their blankie from their head when they're done. if their caregiver looks over and spots their frizzy hair and nearby blankie, those are surefire signs that they need a change
• littles who wet as they brush their fingers against the fabric of their blankie, realizing that they accidentally pavlov-ed themselves when they come across a material in the wild that they innocently brush their hand against to feel the texture of, only to realize a few seconds too late that it's the same material as their blankie... and that there's a sizable wet patch on their pants
• littles who have not only a dedicated bedtime blankie, but also a dedicated potty blankie, who seeks out the appropriate blankie whenever the particular need arises. wrapping them in the bedtime blankie throughout the day ends up with constant napping, while tucking them in with their potty blankie ends up with soaked bedtime diapers
• littles that absolutely can NOT wet at all without their blankie... which happens to be in the washing machine. their caregiver gently encouraging them to go, but to no avail, the little potty dancing as they wait for the wash cycle to end... only to realize that because it's wet, the texture is All Wrong, which means that they'll have to wait for the dryer to do its job, which is a Problem because their ache is turning to an actual pain
their caregiver who has to look throughout their home in search for a suitable replacement before their little actually hurts themselves from holding it for too long, who makes a mental note to see if they can pick up a back-up blankie from somewhere just so this situation won't happen again
• littles who are stubborn and need THEIR blankie, no replacements accepted. there's tears, whining, and pleading for their blankie, they won't take an "it's dirty," "it's missing," or the ever dreaded "you're a big kid, you don't need a blankie anymore" as an answer. they either get what they want, or they'll manage to sneak away long enough to pull their diaper off and make a puddle that they will Not clean up. it's either a blankie + a diaper or NOTHING
just. littles that NEED their blankies <3
