Cev sat at the table with a mug of a strong-smelling dark liquid in his hand. He stared straight ahead, and Tahim could see that he was practically vibrating in place.
"Tahim?" Cev asked.
His voice never raised at the end, Tahim was concerned.
"What's up?"
"I think I can hear shapes now."
"Oh boy," Tahim said, taking the mug from him, "yeah ok that's enough of that for you." He took a whiff of its contents. "Holy Seven Sephram Saints, who thought it'd be a good idea to give you coffee?"
"Tahim? I can't feel my heart beating."
"That's 'cause it's goin' real quick bud. Hey Cev—don't drink this again, ok? I don't think it's good for you."
Cev reaches out his little hands, eyes on the mug.
"But I like it," he said, making grabby hands.
