The ancient Egyptians had a facinating culture based along the changing seasons and the annual flooding of the Nile which bought fertility to the land, the Egyptians would travel along the Nile on traditional sailing boats called “Felucca’s” (depicted left) with access to the reeds growing along the river the ancient Egyptians were able to make the first form of paper known as “Papyrus” from the pith of the papyrus reeds which they used to record hieroglyphic texts, studies of these texts have given insights into the medical, mythological and magical/occult knowledge of the ancient Egyptians and recent texts indicate that they even had spells designed to bewitch or mind control their victims. The ancient Egyptians were also keen astrologers they would utilise clay circular huts and building tools to map the progress of the sun across the sky a process which allowed them to determine that the sun takes 365 days to return to the same place and thus that a year was 365 days long, this process lead to the development of the Egyptian calendar. The Egyptian were known for their advances in textiles and clothing dyes as well as for jewellery and wig making they are also credited with the invention of cosmetic makeup’s which developed out of tribal hunting and ritual markings into a process of beautification, they made eyeliners and lipsticks alongside ointments and creams for the skin though these practices may still have been utilised in magical rituals. The Egyptians were known to have great reverence of their dead and the rich in society could have priest embalm their bodies for mummification, a process that involved removing the organs and placing them in special canopic jars with the heads of deities on them and then having the skin treated with natron salts and perfumes before being wrapped carefully in bandages along with special stone amulets while the priests recited spell incantations to aid the spirit of the deceased, this practice was seen to give the soul immortality since it prevented the body decaying (depicted left a priest preforms mummification rites while dressed as the jackle-headed God of embalming Anubis).
The Egyptians had a number of religious festivals many dedicated to their various deities, these would begin with Wep-Renpet the new year festival associated with rebirth. Another important ancient Egyptian ritual was the king making ritual, in order to become pharoah a man had to undergo this rite where they would be ritually married with the head concubine or high priestess of the cult of Isis and emerge from the ritual marriage chamber as Horus in the flesh with divine rite to rule over Egypt, the pharoah entered the chamber as Osiris the dead pharoah and in union with Isis rebirthed himself as Horus, this ritual bought fertility to the land and invoked the Nile to flood, having overcome death and being resurrected by completion of the sacred marriage or Hieros Gamos ritual the pharoah was seen to have made himself divine and onpar with the Gods. This rite may have involved human sacrifice and was likely related to the Sumerian Hasadu tradition.

&I want more dan-tat.
So work today went by fairly quickly. After, I managed to catch an early s79 to head off to Brooklyn to meet Meredith and Eve. :D Once I got off, I called Meredith 'cus I thought both her and Eve had managed to find each other at this point after my fourty or so minute bus ride. Yeah, I guess not because apparently Eve had walked over to the wrong side of 86th Street, but she managed to find us in the end since we were waiting for her outside of the Pho restaurant. At first, I wasn't sure if we should eat there since the vegetarian options were kind of iffy, but after looking at the menu, we saw this vegetable style pho thing and we went in. :D The food was good - of course, but it was kind of painful watching Eve eat since she was rather clumsy with her chopsticks. SHE DIDN'T GIVE UP THOUGH, and that's what counts, though she had some help here and there. ;D
After pho, we went to wait for the train and Meredith tried to troll Eve by telling her to get on the wrong train and when the right train finally arrived, Eve almost didn't get on. LOL...All that aside, we decided to take her through a quick run of a Chinese Supermarket - HK Supermarket right across the street from the station. There, Meredith introduced to her a Japanese soda type of drink. (Those kinds with the marble in them) Purchased that, and we tried to open it outside. At first, Eve threw out the top that was used to open it, but she managed to salvage it and I managed to open it because I'm super buff. I'm lying.
We walked further down the street and went into TenRen so Meredith could buy her jelly drink, and then into a bakery where we bought three egg tarts. Luckily, there was an empty table right next to the window where I saw a fruit stand - although it was only selling two types of fruits: longgan and dragon fruit. I looked at the price for the longgan and it was only $10 for five pounds! Which was really cheap compared to the rate my mother bought in Chinatown. The three of us attempted to camwhore, which could've gone better on my camera but went well with Meredith's.
Walking out, I was tempted to buy some of the longgan, but I didn't want to carry it - I also wanted Eve to try it so Meredith asked the guy if they could sample some. Eve said it tasted really good, so we stood there debating whether or not to make the purchase.
Deciding not to, we continued on our walk. There wasn't much in the stores that we went into and eventually we found out we were walking the opposite way of the train station, ahahahaaa. On the street, I saw one of those stalls that sell the small little cakes - 20 for a dollar. We all bought a pack and then I saw Jamie from my old school with Sandra and Margaret.
Somewhere during our trip, we saw Amy Tan going home from work or something - what a coincidence. It turns out she's living in Manhattan for the summer. ]: I think that's rather lucky even though she doesn't have enough free time to enjoy it; it's nice to have some change once in awhile.
Honestly, our entire time in Brooklyn was mostly walking up and down the street looking for places to go. We ended up in E-Cool Store, Sweetie Shop, Kitty House (I and II) and some others by the end of the day. Waiting for the train, we camwhored more, Eve has difficulty holding a camera - but that's nothing new.
On the train, I saw this guy reading The Life of Pi. Took the bus, walked home. It was such a good day. We also half-assedly made plans to go to a Russian restaurant next time.
Oh, and have this to end the day:
