After Annette had gone to get food and spend some time with Rosalie, she ended up coming home and Gideon wasn’t there. She had been trying to call and text him and he hadn’t replied and now he wasn’t home. She was worried, she tried calling one more time before she got out of her clothes and into the shower. She had changed into some sweats and a white crop top and she had moved her black cardigan around her, her hair was slightly up and slightly down, the more the hours pass the more worried she became. She had rushed home thinking he was home so they could spend some time together but that didn’t seem to be the first thought on his mind. She took a breath when she heard the door open, she looked over and then back at the tv. She didn’t know whether to be relieved that he was home or mad that he hadn’t even given her the courtesy of a phone call.

Josephine had lost count on how many drinks she’d actually had. Not that she was usually keeping track. But tonight she had to prove a point … that there was no one in this fucking city capable of outdrinking her. But if that was actually the case, she wondered as to why this bloody tosser was still standing. They had left the ball a while ago and Josephine had ridded herself of the long dress somewhere along the way, now wearing his jacket over her bra as well as the short underskirt that the House had provided her with. “I still won …” she insisted as she stumbled forward, remembering her aching feet which resulted in her kicking off her heels without further contemplation.

Rosalie nodded in understanding at the woman’s explanation, knowing that if you already felt under the weather that alcohol was not the right thing to go for. “Fair enough. However, I might have a better idea than to stick around just for water. Around the corner if a burger joint called Queen Burgers and I can assure you that they not only have the best burgers in the city but also mind-blowing milkshakes. And getting water shouldn’t be an issue either. What do you say?” she asked, waiting for her answer before starting to head for the exit, already itching to get off that mask. Once outside she did so, taking a deep breath when she finally didn’t feel like suffocating any longer.
