(before I tell this story, it is primarily a joke/supposed to be light hearted)
Other than the very rare occasion I have been right about needing to check something and it’s not closed/off, I am ‘glad’ I have OCD today.
With my OCD, I have a hard time eating strawberries because I feel like have worms/bugs in them. I can cut them in tiny pieces, I can check them all, I can cook them, dice them, even make them into jam and I still can’t get away from it. It often turns into obsessively brushing my teeth because I feel like there’s bug spices in my mouth.
I actually like strawberries a lot, especially with grapes. Fun fact, if you eat a strawberry and then eat a grape right after it tastes like candy (to me, at least).
But because of my OCD, I haven’t had a strawberry in a while.
Until yesterday, and I was borderline anaphylactic. It was just severe enough I should’ve got to the hospital and it could’ve been a very mild anaphylaxis, but just mild enough that I still was okay without doing anything (I did stay up for a while just in case a second wave came of it got worse).
Wanted to try and pinpoint if it was strawberries or not, so I had some with my breakfast, with foods that I know wouldn’t cause me to react like that. Same thing, though it was a little better (probably because yesterday more than half my dinner was strawberries, and today I just used 3 small ones in my yogurt bowl).
So long story short, my OCD has/is preventing me from severe allergic reactions?
In all seriousness I know it’s not good to avoid/feed into OCD but I think this might be an exception
Anyway look how delicious my yogurt bowl looked
Strawberries, Rice Krispie cereal, dark chocolate, and coconut flakes with a drizzle of honey :) it’s super yummy and most of the stuff in here doesn’t bother my stomach as much as other stuff
Side note apparently service dogs can alert to MCAS? If it turns out I am correct and I in fact have MCAS, Apollo might get upgraded to MCAS/Allergy alert tasks
