yeeeeep. they and a few others sent non-stop messages to me for two weeks last year because I DARED to have a personal opinion. apparently, you’re not allowed to critique media while simultaneously loving the franchise??? like, apparently that’s impossible?? and i’m not a real fan??? and i should die/kill myself/get raped?? lol ok. 

it started after I wrote up a meta about how while I love the Classic games, it’s a disservice to ignore the xenophobia prevalent through them and to excuse the gross marketing. i mean, in a investors sheet for the game, CORE straight-up lists Lara as engaging in “theft from Johnny Foreigner” with “xenophobic glee.” actual words. i mean, i love the Classic games and Classic!Lara; but that’s fucked up. and wouldn’t it be nice to just simply acknowledge the fact it’s fucked up while celebrating that the series has evolved beyond that???

i mean, it’s everyone’s right not to like the reboot. that’s cool. it’s not for everyone. you do you, boo boo. but at least acknowledge the fact that - at the bare minimum - it’s erased the racism and general grossness that plagued the series in the start.
