But, how do we know when we're contented versus anxious, thriving versus just surviving? This is where the Positive Intelligence Quotient (PQ) comes in. According to Charmine (2012), your PQ is the percentage of time your mind is spent serving you versus sabotaging you, allowing you to either flourish or be overrun by negative, rigid behaviors. More specifically, your PQ reflects the strength of your positive mental muscles (sometimes called your “sage”) versus your negative (the “saboteur”). Your level of positive intelligence is your ability to boost your sage and dampen down your saboteur (Chamine, 2012). A strong ability to do so promotes joy, compassion, and curiosity as opposed to anxiety, shame, and regret. So why is it important to recognize your level of positive intelligence? Well, while we know that being physically fit can protect us from physical stress in the face of a challenge (i.e., climbing a steep hill), we sometimes struggle to apply this logic to mental fitness. Nevertheless, it makes sense that when we learn to strengthen our positive mental muscles and build mental fitness (PQ) we too can protect ourselves from mental stress and negative emotions that emerge in the face of life's great challenges. I have had to coach myself to remember my positive intelligence training and all the habits I have built up over the years to equip me to succeed in the face of adversities. 💛Don’t beat yourself up if you get angry or lose control sometimes. Get yourself back on track and work your way to a winning position again. ✅When I have done all I can, I commit the rest into the hands of the Almighty God and ask Him to take charge and crown my efforts with His divine favour. 📌This is how I win in life.
