Speaking of Dust

Tumblr's link function is broken again, which feels on-brand! This is a Halloween collab that's arriving a couple of weeks late, but that, too, is on-brand given that Halloween is delayed for our protagonists in the story/artwork due to circumstances beyond their control.

Real Rashid/Sam Barclay; the 2,220-word fic is rated M, but the artwork is not (however, the art is ridiculously detailed and adorable). Fic by @irisbleufic & artwork by @granddutchessanya.

Once the dust settles, Sam’s main issue with Lestat’s inadvertent apocalypse isn’t the amount of paperwork. It had generated a fuckton for anyone Talamasca-employed or Talamasca-adjacent, and that had made Rashid cross for a week. No, Sam’s plight is that having been on tour and conscripted to fight some batshit, six-thousand-year-old elder had put Halloween on hold for him personally. His love of decorations had been one more nail in his unpopularity coffin with the Paris coven; he hadn’t even given them a respite from that come October.

Yes. I did it.

I giggled to myself too hard whilst writing this not to post it somewhere. So here is the version of Harry's death I wrote back in September when I hallucinated that I was writing pure crack fic.

Harry glanced down at the bite in his arm. It hurt. A lot.

But it was weirdly familiar.

Where on earth had he felt this kind of burn before?

Harry’s eyes widened and he started frantically gesturing a concerned looking Carlisle forward, pushing at Jasper until he wasn’t hovering in the way.

“Do you have stuff to take blood samples?” Harry asked him urgently. Carlisle nodded hesitantly and looked at Jasper who was staring at Harry like he was an alien before clearly deciding Harry was out of his mind with pain and babbling. “Harry, love, you’re turning. We have-“

“Stop being a knob Jasper, I’m fine.” Harry dismissed his with a flapping hand. “Carlisle!”

Carlisle had started to move away but came back quickly when called, Harry could appreciate that in a doctor.

“Get the stuff, I need you to take blood samples. Lots of blood samples.” Harry flapped his hand at Carlisle too and it seemed to be more effective when he used the still bleeding arm. Turns out they would do almost anything to stop him waving that around.

Harry was willing to admit that made a certain amount of sense.

“Quick!” Harry shouted after him, “You need to do it before I petrify fully.”

“Harry, darlin, please.” Jasper was pleading with him and Harry really wasn’t prepared to ignore that so he sat quietly and let Jasper fuss over him until Carlisle was back with his needles.

“Get a least a couple of litres.” Harry glared at Jasper when he went to interrupt, “Pssh Jasper, it’s not like I’m going to need it.”

That seemed to shut him up. Briefly.

By the time Carlisle was finished Harry was feeling decidedly woozy.

Jasper looked devastated and Harry patted him comfortingly.

“It’s alright pretty thing, I’ll be back soon.”

Then he fainted.
