When I told Mom that I didn’t want to go to school this weekend, I meant it. School is the last place I want to be right now. Between Nadia and Parker this weekend, it didn’t stop. At least Mom and I seem to finally be getting along again… We actually spent the car ride talking. It’s probably the first time we’ve done that in weeks.

I pull the door to school open and am met with the familiar scent of the hallway. It smells like a bad mix of axe body spray and crappy perfume body spray. I swear everyone here has the same sprays and none of them are good.

The walk from the door to my locker isn’t a far one. I spot two people standing in front of my locker and freeze. Parker. And some boy I’ve never seen before. Probably her boyfriend. Why are they in front of my locker? I sigh. I don’t feel like dealing with this right now.

It’s Monday, which means I don’t have math, which means I actually have to go to my locker. My first class today is Western Civ and Ms. Tully always makes us bring our books to class. I take a deep breath and keep walking. Whatever. I’ll just tell them to leave.

“Georgia,” greets my former best friend. Her voice is cold. She made it very clear this weekend that our friendship is over. I still don’t even know what I did. She kept calling me a bad friend over and over again. She told me I didn’t care. She’s the one who stopped caring. Not me. I feel tears start at the back of my throat and swallow. Not again. I’ve already cried once today.

“Can you move, please?” I ask. I don’t make eye contact with either of them. The guy next to her is staring at me. He doesn’t look mad, he looks… weird. I can’t really read his expression. This is the guy she picked over me? Okay. 

“Good morning to you too.” She rolls her eyes. I feel the urge to do the same, but decide against it. Talking with Mom this morning must’ve gotten to me. Her voice is in my head, reminding me not to stoop to anyone’s level. I didn’t even tell her anything going on.

“Can you move, please?” I repeat. I have no idea what my voice sounds like right now.

“I have your clothes, when do you want them?” she asks. I forgot she said she would bring them today. "Georgia" clothes. I don't know why she had to throw that in my face. My stuff might be nicer than hers, but I've never said anything about it.

“Just give them to me after school,” I tell her. I swallow again. I don’t know why this couldn’t have been done over text. Oh, right. I think she blocked me.

“Fine,” she says. She grabs her boyfriend’s hand and they both leave without saying anything else. Ten years of friendship for… that guy. She doesn’t seem bothered at all. I don’t know how to feel about that.

I get my locker open after a couple tries and pull out my Western Civ book. Parker and I have class together. I forgot until right now. We usually sit next to each other. Not today, I guess.

Lunch will be different. I’ll have to sit somewhere else. On Mondays, we usually sit at a table with a few other people. I wonder if she’s said anything to them about me. Zach hasn't talked to me, so I'm guessing she did. They’re more her friends than they are mine. They probably just pretend to like me. Now they have no reason to.

Without Parker, I don’t really have… any friends here. I have acquaintances, but they all have their own friends. I glance around. Everyone has friends. I don’t see a single person by themselves. Except me. The only one without any friends.

The lump in my throat is still there. I swallow for a third time to try and get rid of it.
