Something about home
There's something about this place. I wish more people here felt it too. I wish we had felt it when it mattered--when it could still be saved or at least, cherished for what it was.
It's too late now. I don't know how I know it, but I do. The wistful air has grown ponderous, too heavy to hold onto the magic much longer. There's less cats roaming the streets than there are cars. There's more houses than there are people who can afford them. The backroads fronted, or otherwise turned into a maze of circles. The trees of my youth have lost friends, fallen in storms or worse, cut down by us, once protectors, now foes.
This town used to ache for something bigger. I have seen it melt away to merely a suggestion. One day, and soon, it will be gone entirely. Even the 24-hour psychic will have to close up shop.
And all we'll be left with is an eternal sense of longing for a place we no longer belong, the last remaining vessels of that feeling, a vague stirring inside the soul waiting to be awoken. Waiting to want something more again.

Dreaming of Alaska
Drove through the mountains today and felt my heart pull for something more in life than my routine. I wonder if I could survive, jumping from place to place with a budget and a longing for stories, perspectives. I want to learn. Cultures, languages, lessons, stories about people whos lives are different than mine. I want to inhale the crisp air in the winter mornings, look around me, and be completely content with my being as a whole. Somedays I wonder if I could stretch my existence to the limits and expose myself and my own story to those who long for the same adventure as I do. I want to experience and grow. I want to live.
