If we don’t have time for those, just have Chidi freeze after some torture scenario and then have him act like he had an epiphany and explain it to us as we go. But no, the torture didn’t even apply enough to his life for that. It hadn’t been relevant. Its randomness made him feel like he was being punished for *something*, but without the usual accompanying flashbacks, he couldn’t figure out for what.
