the first time any of them get pregnant, polytrix is EXTREMELY secretive the entire time. like somehow nobody even finds out about their eldest children for the first few years of their life secretive.
but the second time theyre much less secretive. in fact mira (whose pregnant with their fourth child 5 years after the birth of their first three) starts to get excited at the prospect of doing a photoshoot while about 7 months pregnant. while theyve already had a private photoshoot (done by rumi) to boost her self esteem bc she was feeling insecure about her body, it actually made her feel so secure that she decided she wants to show off to the world (not to mention, the private photoshoot wound up being a lot more naked than she had been expecting-not that she was complaining, the nudity was very fun-so shes kinda excited to wear clothes for this one)
Look, they’re extremely happy their wife isn’t having anymore self esteem issues, but mira is a fucking goddess on most days while shes not pregnant (and theyve learned to “share her” with the world), and shes a different type of goddess while pregnant (which theyve not learned to “share” with the world).
they end up coming along with her to the shoot (which she’s hesitant about considering their…history with coming to her photoshoots, but she’s also been really clingy during the final few months of pregnancy so she was probably gonna be a crying mess if they didn’t come along) and theyre about as well behaved as you would expect. someone puts their hand on mira’s stomach (bc people love doing that to pregnant women for some reason) and zoey almost snaps their wrist. someone compliments how beautiful mira looks while pregnant and rumi spends the entire rest of the shoot plotting how to kill them.
by the mid point mira is looking at them like theyve gone insane, bc theyre glaring at EVERYONE that isnt her, each other, and during his brief visit, bobby. she asks them multiple times what is going on with them but theyre like “huh? nothing what?” bc genuinely see no problem with their behavior. theyre just protecting their pregnant wife from anyone who would hurt her, obviously.
mira: hurt me? why the fuck would any of them hurt me?
zoey: idk they seem to stare at you a lot
mira, knowing damn well thats not whats really wrong: i thought it was cuz i looked good. do you guys not think i look good? 🥺
rumi: OKAY FINE WE CONFESS WE’RE NOT BEING OVERPROTECTIVE WE’RE BEING JEALOUS BC WE DONT LIKE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE SEEING YOU LOOK SO GOOD CARRYING OUR CHILD
mira: I KNEW IT. JUST SAY THAT THEN IDIOTS
zoey: we thought youd be mad at us 🥺
mira: ??? WE’RE ALL FREAKS ABOUT EACH OTHER! WEVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR OVER A DECADE AND HAVE KNOWN THIS FOR ALMOST AS LONG! THIS ISNT NEWS!
(and then, unlike the last time they were on set for one of her solo photoshoots, they both have a turn eating her out bc shes also really horny during this stage of pregnancy)
anyways after that mira doesn’t really let people touch her much for the rest of the photoshoot and they’re a lot better behaved (theyre less hangry now so jealousy level has gone down a bit 😏).
when the shoot comes out the photos immediately are framed in their house and they admire them every day
zoey, staring adoringly at the pictures: damn. kinda makes me wish we’d had one while you were both pregnant so we could have shots of you looking like this, ru. 🫤😔
rumi: hm, guess ill just have to get pregnant again, then 🤷♀️😏
(it goes even worse in the omegaverse version of events. rumi is growling at EVERYONE who stares at mira for too long, except for zoey of course, and snaps at everyone else who gets too close to her. zoey genuinely DOES break someone’s wrist when they put their hand on her stomach, which shocks everyone. theyre overall way more openly and violently overprotective than they are jealous
the thing is, while they are on worse behavior in this universe, nobody holds it against them for being so. they consider it perfectly natural for miras mates to be protective during her pregnancy, and while zoey breaking someones wrist was shocking, they’re moreso shocked bc they’re not expecting zoey, who doesn’t really exhibit typical alpha behavior, to act like that, and not bc she actually did it in the first place. in fact people hear about it and are like “reasonable reaction tbh”)
