#100 days of languages : Day #4 Try 2 tongue twisters
Yes! My favourite! Tongue twisters! The first one I heard it in the anime Pandora hearts.
赤唇、青唇、唇。
あかくちびる、あおくちびる、ちびる。
Red lips, blue lips, lips.
But, I heard a version of this in it.
あかちびギル、あおちびギル、ちびギル。
Red little Gil, blue little Gil, little Gil.
And, both of them are funny to me, especially because in Japanese a tongue twister is supposed to be said two times. The second is a little bit hard.
裏庭には二羽、庭にはニ羽鶏がいる。
うらにわにはにわ、にわにはにわにわとりがいる。
There are two chickens in the backyard and two chickens in the front yard.
Have fun!
#100 days of languages : Day #3 Learn 1 new grammatical concept
✺ ~しかない
- have no other choice; forms using the verb in its dictionary form
Examples:
・できるまで、やるしかない。
You have to try it until you make it.
・私にはとても無理な仕事だったので、断るしかなかった。
I had to refuse because I thought it'll be very unreasonable job for me.
So, grammar is my worst part in learning a language. And I've tried to translate those sentences but I feel like I didn't really good. Feel free to correct me.
#100 days of languages : Day #2 Learn 2 idioms
1. 知らぬが仏
Translates as “Not knowing is Buddha.” And its English equivalent is “Ignorance is bliss”, where Buddha is equivalent of bliss.
2. 虎穴に入らずんば虎子を得ず
Translates as “Is you don’t enter the tiger’s cave, you can’t catch its cub.” Same as “nothing ventured, nothing gained”, it’s about the risk-taking and the reward.
#100 days of languages : #1 Learn 5 new words
✺ 懸命 • けんめい • eagerness, earnestness, risking one's life
✺ ぬくもり • warmth
✺ かざす • to shade one's eyes, face, etc.
✺ 迷う • まよう• to give into temptation, to lose control of oneself; to lose one's way
✺ 霞む • かすむ • to grow hazy, to be misty; to get blurry; to be overshadowed
