Now that I've retaken learning french, I would like to address the topic of language exchange apps like tandem. Iβve used them in the past, and I felt a bit uncomfortable at times. I noticed there wasnβt a strong female presence, and I often felt like I had to stay on guard when talking to people (especially men) because I wasnβt always sure if their intentions were genuinely about language learning or if they wanted to flirt or directly try and sext. And this wasn't me being paranoid, I swear! Some people were truly weird on their interactions.
The uncertainty made it harder to build meaningful connections without worrying about giving the wrong impression. Because hey! I'm open to making friends, that's never the problem, but I'm not open to playing tinder 2.0 international.
Of course, this is just my personal experience, but Iβm curious if others have felt the same way. Do you feel it too? How do you guys get to practice speaking/writing without paying for classes?
