Memories are bittersweet. They remind you of the happiness from your past. They leave you with amazing stories to share and to look back on and laugh at. Memories can also cause pain and suffering. It’s the reminder of mistakes that you’ve made in the past. Mistakes that you cannot undo. And no matter how hard you try, they’ll never go away. They’ll remind you of all of the people that have come and gone in your life. In some cases, they’ll remind you of how you will never see them again, or that they will never look at you the same.
After Lafayette found out what happened between you and Laurens, it killed him. He had finally thought that he found the person he could spend the rest of his life with. A person who would love him until the end of their days, a person who could maybe provide him with the children he always wanted. However, one sentence shattered that dream. Shattered his hopes for a normal life.
“I mean, there’s nothing to be open about. We already know that you and Laurens did the do last night and there’s nothing else to it.” Alex shrugged and walked back into the bathroom.
“Wait, what?” you both turned to see a heartbroken Laf, staring at you in disbelief. You wanted to break down and cry just because of the pain in his eyes. You didn’t see tears, or anger. Not even hatred. All you saw was sheer pain. His look told you everything and it killed you to know that you had hurt him so horribly.Â
You didn’t even get a chance to do or say anything before he left. He just got up and left. Without a word, Laf just turned around and walked out of the door. He didn’t even slam it on his way out. You of course chased him, calling out his name frantically. Memories of Laurens running out into the street and the pain that you felt after losing him flashed through your mind. You couldn’t let the same thing happen to Lafayette.
“Laf!” you cried out. “Lafayette, please wait!” But what good did that do? As soon as you made it outside, Laf had disappeared. It was as if he vanished into thin air within a matter of seconds. Just like John faded away when he was struck by the truck.
“Lafayette!” You called out. You ran all over the place looking for him. Hoping that it would start to rain like it did in one of those cliche movies, and that he would suddenly appear out of no where and the two of you would argue. Then you’d realize you loved each other all along, and share a long, passionate kiss. However only one of those things happened. The clouds cried as if they had just lost the love of their lives. Any moment Laf would show up. Any moment you’d be back in his arms. You’d inhale his scent and you’d feel as though you were the safest person in the world. But that didn’t happen. You wandered the streets aimlessly for hours until Laurens and Hercules finally found you crying at a bus stop. Laf was gone. You didn’t even get to say goodbye.
The next people to leave were Alex and Philip. All Alex did was pick pointless fights with everyone, and eventually enough was enough and he walked out. Just like Lafayette had walked out on you. You didn’t chase him, though. You knew that he didn’t want to be followed. However, Philip reluctantly followed his father.
James, Thomas, and Burr left about two months after. The atmosphere was too depressing for them. So they left. You only had Laurens and Hercules left.Â
All you did was sleep and work. You hardly ate, you hardly socialized. All you did was work so that you could keep a roof over your head. Soon you found yourself quitting your job. It had started to be too much for you to handle. Besides, Laurens and Hercules were finally able to start working. Hercules got a job at this little vintage shop, and within two years, he was able to open his own store. He started his own clothing like, which became a huge hit. Hercules was making millions. He was even able to move the three of you into a larger house in upstate New York. With Hercules’ help, Laurens was able to open his own Aquatic Sanctuary. Laurens also started to make good money.Â
They stuck with you for years. Soon, you started to get better. You started to regain the life that you had lost so long ago. You would start to laugh again, you’d eat like you’d used to. You even got a new job. Hercules and Laurens stuck by you when times got hard, and you knew that no matter what happened, they’d always be by your side.
So yes, memories are bittersweet. They remind you of all the times you fucked up in your past. Fucked up things that you can’t un-fuck. But, if you’re smart, they keep you from repeating those things. They help you to find your happiness again, which was what you did. You found your happiness. And just like an ending out of a twisted fairytale, you, Laurens, and Hercules, after everything the three of you had been through, lived happily ever after.
Thank you guys so much for all of the love and support! I was honestly surprised when even one person wanted me to continue writing this story, however even with that I still doubt I would frequently update it. So here’s a drabble that I just made up as I went and I actually kind of like how it came out? I feel like it could have been way better if I had dragged it out, but nah. The fire I felt while I was first writing it died, and I felt like it was a chore to update. And not even just this story, all of them? Idk I kind of lost my love for writing, but it’s somewhat coming back? Thank you for all of my new followers too, and again I’m sorry that I’ve been so inactive. I guess I’ll just post when I post lmao. Hoped y’all enjoyed and if anyone wants to have an alt. ending to this alt. ending, I think that would be pretty cool! Just make sure to tag me and the original author! Right I’m done rambling now toodles
