poly!bartylus x gn!reader who wasn't supposed to mix alcohol [473 words]
CW: ÂłÂłâŸ a mensâ bathroom, Âč⟠âitâs too early for this.â, no gender markers used for reader, reader has hair that can be moved from the nape of their neck, implied vomiting, hanging over the edge of the toilet
Regulus was biting his tongue so hard that his teeth tasted metallic, willing himself not to say the words dancing on the tip of his tongue.Â
His brain was a steady mantra of donât say it, donât say it, donât say it, donât say it.
Barty didnât have such qualms nor the self-restraint.
âItâs too early for this.â He announced to the empty menâs bathroom, eliciting a whimper from your frame that was curled up on the floor of a stall with your head hanging over the edge of the toilet.Â
Regulus figured he ought to be grateful that it was so early in the evening, seeing as the bathroomâs were hardly dirtied by the drunk and depraved who would come to haunt these stalls as the night wore on. Your knees likely safe from the grime having only recently been disinfected.Â
Regulus bit back a sigh as he pulled some toilet paper from the dispenser. âAre you almost done, amour?â
You let out a whimper that really didnât amount to much but Regulus correctly translated to a resounding no.Â
âTreasure, I thought we decided we werenât going to mix our alcohol tonight.â Barty drawled; the we was an attempt to soften the blow of his reprimand seeing as the rule was really only ever enacted for you. Â
Something that sounded an awful lot like âsorryâ left your sad, sorry lips as the door to the bathroom opened up.Â
âWhoa,â an equally drunk looking bar patron murmured as he swayed in surprise, eyes glued to the point past Barty and Regulus to where you were hunched over the toilet.Â
âYeah, yeah. Nothinâ to see here,â Barty huffed dismissively, though he kept his gaze locked on the bloke as the block kept his gaze locked on you, âgo on, move along you fuckinâ wanker.âÂ
The bloke did, indeed, move along once Barty straightened and took a few menacing steps towards him, Regulus taking the opportunity to move into the stall now that he was no longer vying for space with Barty.Â
He crouched behind you and moved some of your â now sticky â hair away from the nape of your neck; you shivered at the cool air that accosted you.Â
âLet me know when you think you can make it home without throwing up in a cab and weâll leave, alright?â He murmured into the space behind your ear.Â
You were truly pitiful, whimpering in response though you dutifully nodded at his instruction before lurching towards the toilet bowl again.
âItâs too early for thisâŠâ Barty muttered again, though his gaze fell soft and sympathetic as he stationed himself against the hinges of the stall again like your very own personal bouncer keeping everyone out of your very own personal hell.
Honestly? Regulus couldnât help but agree; it was going to be a long night.

Summary: more than friends, less than loversâbut somehow all of the above? [0.9k]
Warnings: i think none? lmk if there is any!
A/N: not my best work and i sorta kinda hate this but its been collecting dust for a while and i can barely write rn so why not! (dividers by @cursed-carmine)
Youâve always been more, you think. Even from the beginningâright after the three of you were sorted into Slytherin togetherâthere had been a pull. An undercurrent.
You were best friends first, of course. A strange constellation of personalities that shouldnât have worked but somehow always did. Youâd never find one without the other two. Barty, loud and bright like a flare. Regulus, quiet and cutting and endlessly watchful. And youâsomewhere between them, the balance point of all your contradictions.
Even now, even after the slow realization that there could be more, that maybe there was more, that potential still hung in the space between you all like static. You never said it out loud. None of you did. It didnât need wordsâjust lingering glances, late night touches that felt too tender for friendship, the way their shoulders always ended up brushing yours in the dark like gravity had decided it was easier that way.
The âmoreâ was never acknowledged. Just allowed to quietly grow.
âY/N,â Barty groaned, flopping dramatically across the length of the common room couch like a man starved for attention. One arm dangled off the edge, the other sprawled across his forehead like he was a character in a Victorian novel mid-faint.
âYes, Junior?â you answered dryly, not even looking up from your book where you sat on the rug beneath him. Your back was against the couch, your shoulder brushing his leg.
âIâm bored. You two are so boring.â
âYouâre always bored,â Regulus muttered from the armchair across from you, legs curled beneath him, hair tied back loosely in a silk ribbon you suspect was once yours. He didnât look up from his parchment either. âHave you considered developing a personality?â
Barty gasped, wounded. âI have a personality. Youâre just both determined to crush it under your big heavy books and lack of fun.â
âMaybe weâre just immune to tantrums,â you said, turning a page without missing a beat. âWeâve built up resistance over the years.â
âOh, shut up,â Barty huffed, nudging your shoulder with his foot. âCome do something with me. Something reckless. Something that doesnât involve rereading Hogwarts: A History for the seventeenth time.â
âItâs not that manyââ you started.
âSeventeenth,â Regulus confirmed, deadpan.
You glared. âTraitor.â
âI merely observe.â
âYouâre both insufferable,â Barty grumbled, stretching like a cat and dropping his head back to the couch dramatically. âHonestly. What are we doing with our lives?â
âWasting our youth,â Barty declared. âAnd our good looks. We should be out hexing something. Or someone. Preferably someone annoying.â
âSo, yourself?â Regulus asked, looking up briefly. A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Barty threw a cushion at him. Regulus caught it one-handed without blinking.
âMerlin,â you groan. âWe argue like an old married couple.â
âAre you saying youâre in love with us, sweetheart?â Barty said teasingly.
Silence.
It was meant to be a joke. Just one of Bartyâs usual, offhand pokes meant to stir the pot and maybe get a rise out of one or both of you. But the silence that followed was heavier than it shouldâve been.
Your fingers paused on the page.
Regulusâs smirk disappeared.
Barty sat up slowly. His voice, when he spoke again, was a little quieter. âWait. Iâwas thatâŠâ
Regulus looked away first. Back to his parchment, though you could tell he wasnât reading anymore. âDonât be ridiculous,â he muttered.
âIâm not,â Barty said. âOrâwell, not right now.â
Your voice came soft, a thread of something vulnerable pulling tight. âYouâre not wrong, though.â
More silence. Thick and humming with unspoken things.
Barty swallowed. âOkay. So. Thatâs a thing.â
Regulus didnât respond, but his jaw had gone tight.
You looked up at Barty, meeting his eyes. âIs it not a thing for you, too?â
His mouth opened, then closed again. His brows furrowed, like he was caught off guard by his own words before he even spoke. âI just⊠wasnât expecting to actually talk about it,â he said. âItâs weird, right? When you joke about something for so long and then suddenly itâs not a joke anymore.â
You huffed out a quiet laugh. âYeah. Weird.â
Barty rubbed a hand over the back of his neck, the easy grin he usually wore nowhere to be found. âI mean, I care about you. Both of you. Thatâs not new. Itâs just⊠different now when you say it out loud.â
Regulusâs voice came soft, careful. âDifferent doesnât mean bad.â
Barty looked over at him, a softness hidden in his expression that you knew all too well. âNo, it doesnât.â
You sat with that. All three of you did. The weight of knowing something had changed, or maybe always been there, but now it had names and edges and consequences.
And yetâyou still sat in the same positions. You still touchedâBartyâs leg against your shoulder, Regulusâs ribbon still loosely tied with the faint scent of your perfume on it. You were still you. Nothing had changed, but somehow everything had shifted. And that was almost more frightening than if everything had shattered.
Regulus stood abruptly, folding his parchment in half. âIâm going to bed.â
âRegââ Barty started, half-rising.
Regulus shook his head, not unkindly. Just a little too fast, a little too forceful. âI justâneed to think. Thatâs all.â
And then he was gone, disappearing up the stairs without looking back.
You leaned your head against Bartyâs knee, and he instinctively rested his hand in your hair.
âWeâre going to have to talk about it eventually,â you murmured.
âYeah,â Barty said quietly. âBut not tonight.â
You both sat there a while longer. Not talking. Just existing in that strange, stretched momentâafter the change but before the fallout. Still tangled. Still three points of a constellation that didnât quite know its shape anymore.

poly!bartylus x fem!reader who had a bad mental health day [772 words]
CW: anxiety/bad day, concerned partners, swearing in Barty's internal dialogue as well as threats of violence, hurt/comfort
You were tense. And quiet.Â
You were tense and quiet.Â
Those facts lit a fire under Barty; his entire body thrumming with anxiety and a drive to do something, only for Regulus Wet Blanket Black to thwart his efforts on fixing⊠this, whatever this was.Â
Barty had been about to say something when Regulus elbowed his ribs, shooting him a pointed glare which Barty understood his signature stand down look.Â
You were sitting across the table from them in the library, staring down at your parchment unseeingly as you traced your lips with the feather of your quill. Thatâs all you had been doing for the past nearly forty-five minutes that the three of you have been here.Â
Attempts were made at conversation, but the boys could hardly get more than a hum of acknowledgement or a simple one word yes or no response from you.Â
Regulus seemed to be of the mind that you wouldnât appreciate an interrogation right now. Barty, in contrast, wanted to learn the names of any and all of the motherfuckers who dared to cause this frowny version of his favourite girl.Â
It felt like a bad western stand off; Regulus and Barty on one side of the table communicating through pointed glares, pinches to thighs and elbows to ribs, quirked brows and quietly hissed threats as you worried the base of your quill between two tense fingers, eyes growing more and more glassy as time went on.Â
Barty couldnât take it anymore, his restraint snapped.
âWhat happened?â He blurted, earning him an â even more aggressive â elbow to the ribs and a disappointed sigh from Regulus on his side. That was okay, Regulus could be mad if wanted to be; Bartyâs main concern was you.Â
The question startled you out of your spiral, dropping the quill with a quiet gasp as black in bled in two splotches on your parchment. That was your tipping point, apparently, seeing two more splotches appear on your blank parchment; tears finally falling over the edge of your waterline.
âAmour.â Regulus cooed pitifully as Barty stood and rounded the table, straddling the bench on your side so that he was facing you. Â
âWhatâs the matter, treasure?â Barty asked in the softest tone he could muster; images of him stringing students and professors alike to the rafters by their robes if any of them so much as slightly contributed to this day of yours flashing violently behind his eyes.Â
âIâve just- I.. Iâve just had a bad day.â You admit; voice taught near painfully as you bit back a sob.Â
âWho did it?â Barty asked darkly, leaning back to look at you as though your face might tell you who did this. That earned him a warning âBartyâŠâ from Regulus.Â
You were shaking your head, though, as you wiped tears from your face; both boys dedicating the entirety of their attention to you as you worked yourself up to talk to them.
âItâs justâŠI just had a hard day, I think.â You admitted with a sigh as though simply admitting it had a weight lifting from your shoulders. âI just woke up very anxious andâŠâ
âAnd it didnât get any better as the day went on.â Regulus deduced, finishing your sentence when words seemed to fail you.Â
You nodded miserably as a defeated sob escaped your lips.Â
âIâm so sorry, tres,â Barty murmured as he pulled you in flush to his chest, âwe shouldâve said something earlier.â He tacked on, narrowing his eyes at Regulus across the table. Regulus had the grace to look at least partially chastised, even though he still managed to roll his eyes at Barty.Â
âIâm sorry, amour.â Regulus agreed, reaching across the table to take one of your hands in his. âWhat can we do to help, hm?âÂ
You took a moment to think on that; licking your lips as you tried to take a deep breath despite the way in shuttered as it left you.Â
âDo you think maybe we can just relax for the night?â You asked, bordering on shy. âMaybe sit outside for a bit?â
âConsider it done.â Barty agreed quickly, Regulus already making to stand and collecting his things from the desk. âYou go to the dungeons to change into comfies and collect blankets with Reg, and Iâll get some snacks from the kitchen.âÂ
âWeâll meet at the astronomy tower.â Regulus agreed; the two boys completely taking over the planning and execution so that all you had to do was hold one of their hands through the castle and enjoy your relaxing night.Â
Barty was glad he asked; Regulus was glad Barty asked, too.
Congrats on 7k that's amazing!! I found you not too long ago, but I'm so glad I did, I love your writing, truly.
For the games, I was hoping to spin the roulette wheel with bartylus x reader. The prompts I had in mind were: domestic prompts 15 (odd socks) and acts of service 21 (taking care of them when they're sick)
If you get around to this and feel inspired, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
thanks for playing!!
poly!bartylus x gn!reader who take care of reg when he's sick [433 words]
CW: sick fic, barty and regulus cosplaying as haters, mild chaos, fluff
âAlright, doc,â you sigh as Barty straightens up from where heâd been hovering over Regulusâ curled up form, âgive it to me straight: how bad is it?âÂ
Barty makes a point to appear particularly perturbed. âHeâs wearing mismatched socks.â
You let out a theatrical gasp as you clutch at your non-existent pearls. âThat bad, eh?â
âI can hear you sods.â Regulus grumbles bitterly from his blanket cocoon.Â
âOh my God,â Barty gasps, pretending to have been startled. âI thought it was dead.â
âBarty.âÂ
âAwe, Reggie.â You coo placatingly before the two of them can start a row. âYou sound awful.â
âI feel awful.â He pouts.
âYou look awful too.â
âOkay, out.â You direct Barty as you gesture definitively towards the door.Â
Barty rolls his eyes but he complies, picking up the various dirty tissues and empty cups of tea and water as he does, giving away how much he actually does care for his down-and-out boyfriend.Â
âHeâs such an arse to me.â Regulus whines earning him a roll of your own eyes.
âYou love it.â You state simply, no sympathy for your boyfriend who gives to Barty just as good as he gets. Besides, the fact that his feet are currently dutifully covered in a healthy dose of vapour rub â mismatched socks and all â and that he is propped up by perfectly fluffed pillows and adorned in a variety of blankets hardly appears to be the work of anything less than a perfectly dutiful boyfriend.Â
âFeel bad for me.â Regulus begs.
âNo.â
âAmour.â He chides.
âRegulus.â
âPlease?â
His eyes have taken on a glassy quality on account of his fever; cheeks pinked and bottom lip jutting out as he makes one last-ditch effort at gaining your sympathy. You donât give it to him, but you do press a kiss to his fever warmed forehead which appears to be close enough.Â
âOi!â Barty complains from the door, pausing with a new cup of tea in one hand and a cool, damp flannel in the other. âI leave for two minutes and weâre getting kisses?â
âYou can get kisses too, Bee.â You sigh tiredly at the same time Regulus murmurs âno kisses for you.âÂ
This leads to a squabble breaking out between the two boys; Regulus not receiving his cup of tea and Barty not receiving any kisses as you step out of the room to leave the two of them to their nonsense. Youâre just glad Regulus is feeling well enough to fight with his boyfriend.
The sound of cackling trailing out of the room behind you tells you that Bartyâs glad for it, too.Â
