The US has banned government officials from having romantic or sexual relationships with Chinese citizens
AP News highlights that government officials as well as โfamily members and contractors with security clearances,โ from having romantic and/or sexual relationships with Chinese citizens. The policy was put into effect by the U.S. Ambassador Nicholas Burns, as he was departing the position. AP News mentions โ[t]hough some U.S. agencies already had strict rules on such relationships, a blanket โnon-fraternizationโ policy, as it is known, has been unheard of publicly since the Cold War.โ The policies will cover U.S. missions in mainland China, including the embassy in Beijing and consulates in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang and Wuhan, as well as the American consulate in the semi-autonomous territory of Hong Kong. Couples that were together before this policy may file for an exception, however if they fail to get an exception they must either end the relationship or quit their government job.ย

Protestors gathered together in DC and other cities to protest the Trump administration
These protests have been rallied under the โHands Off Movement.โ Reuters claims that โ1,200 demonstrationsโ were held around the country โagainst President Donald Trump and his billionaire ally Elon Musk since they launched a rapid-fire effort to overhaul [the]government and expand presidential authority.โ The protestors number in the thousands, โ[s]ome carried Ukrainian flags and others wore Palestinian keffiyeh scarves and carried โFree Palestineโ signs, while Democrats from the U.S. House of Representatives blasted Trump's policies on stage.โย
