ย ย ย It felt like his chest was on fire. Each breath he took felt like it was harder and harder to take; his ribs were caving in on themselves, his lungs were shriveling, and his thoughts were running too fast for him to grasp and keep hold of to calm down. His legs shook, and his throat felt like he was swallowing a desert every time he tried.ย
ย ย ย Eddie dropped down to one knee as his ears started to ring. He was sure Bailee had asked him a question, but he couldnโt make out what sheโd said to him. The ringing in his ears was beginning to dissipate to the sound of Bailee speaking to him. While he still couldnโt hear what she was saying or focus on it, Eddie wrapped one gentle hand around her wrist to acknowledge that he knew she was there. He knew she was trying to help.
