“at this point i don’t know who’s more scared, you or them.”

“I AM NOT SCARED,” Prince retorted in a hushed tone, neatly adjusting the collar of his shirt as he stood up from his post at your bedside before glancing back down to your sleeping form. “...JUST.. CONCERNED IS ALL..” 

His soul felt a small rush of relief just looking upon you, your eyes closed and chest gently rising and falling with each deep breath you took. He couldn’t help but reach down and let his fingers lightly brushed away a few strands of hair sticking to your forehead, the undeniable heat from your fever reminding him that it really was a good thing he called a doctor... despite your initial reaction.

Your eyes had gone wide and hesitation was heavy in your tone, your hands nervously gripping at the blanket in.. fear.

.....

..It had nearly been enough to make him hang up on the doctor on spot and cancel the house call entirely.. but.. it was important to get you looked at. 

This fever has persisted for more than a day now and although he wasn’t completely oblivious to human illness, he certainly wasn’t knowledgeable about them either. He didn’t like you suffering like this.. so..

“it’ll be alright bro,” Papyrus hummed, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. “the doc is a good guy, he was recommended by ol’ fluffybuns himself. did a real great job treatin’ the kiddo when they came down with that terrible cold.”

“..I KNOW.. ALTHOUGH I STILL DON’T LIKE LETTING A STRANGER INTO OUR HOUSE WITHOUT MORE OF AN OFFICIAL BACKGROUND CHECK BUT.. WE DON’T REALLY HAVE THE TIME DO WE. I DON’T WANT THEIR FEVER TO GET ANY WORSE..”

“s’true.. though not knowing the guy does give you the excuse to hang around with ‘em,” he replied, before bumping Sans with his elbow. “who knows? maybe princess will be a liiiiittle more clingy to their prince cause they’re scared..”

“WELL THEY CLEARLY HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR WHILE I’M WITH THEM!” he said confidently, placing his hands firmly on his hips. “I’LL PROTECT THEM.. NO MATTER WHAT.”

“And you’re so sweet.”

“.....”

“And so incredibly thoughtful. It always seems like you know just what to say to cheer me up.”

“......”

“And of course the most dashingly handsome skeleton I've ever known!”

“......”

He was struggling. 

Between your endless string of compliments and kisses to his skull, Prince was clearly having difficulty maintaining his composure. You could see it in the way his smile twitched and that shade of light blue was deepening on his face while avoiding direct eye contact, the hearts in his eyelights wobbling ever so slightly at every word you spoke. 

Still, as per your agreement, he kept quiet.

Normally he’d be matching you word for word with compliments, and by the end of it you could hardly keep up as he turned you into a blushing mess with how sweet and sincere they all were. 

But today was just for him. 

Today you really wanted to remind this cute, thoughtful skeleton just how much you really loved him.

“...WELL IF I MAY SAY MY DEARES-”

“No, you may not.”

He pouted, even going so far as to cross his arms and let out a small ‘hmph’, which made him look simply adorable. A laugh found it’s way out of your mouth as you leaned over for another series of kisses on his puffed out cheek.

“Sans.”

He still kept quiet.

“I love you very much.”

“......MAY I... AT LEAST SAY I LOVE YOU TOO?”

“Hmmmm. I guess I can allow that.”

You watched his face instantly lit up as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close.

“THEN I LOVE YOU VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY, VER-”

“Sans.” 

“VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY-!”

“Sans!” you laughed.

not really? i haven’t actually thought about that series in a very long time so i couldn’t say he was inspired by it, but i can certainly see the similarities! they are both bigger bara boys, dress well, and have... questionable personalities and motives for sure.. feel free to correct me too, but i don’t believe beast is technically a mobster? he and his brother aren’t affiliated with any kind of gang or organized crime, they just run an independent business with each other that sometimes deals with some shady stuff.

my whole reasoning of making beast taller and broader was because *hehehe tall boi (//ω//)* but also the idea of a nickname like ‘beast’ invoked imagery of someone who would be big, strong and intimidating. like you’d only give a nickname like that to someone who has the kinda appearance that’d make you say “holy shit that guy is an absolute unit”, just from one glance ya know?
