Thoughts on Facebook Messenger
With all the Tweeps buzzing about Facebook Messenger, I decided to take it for a trial run.
The new app, released yesterday, is described as "a faster way to message. Reach friends right on their phones, get and send messages fast, message everyone at once and more."
It's nice that the app pulls Facebook Chat and Messages into one easy to user-friendly interface. It allows you to toy with notification settings and activate location services, but who really needs another app?
The existing Facebook app already allows me to do the above in addition to being able to comment on photos and participate in ALL conversation threads, not just Facebook Messages and Chat. Add to that the fact that the people who I really want to speak with are already cataloged in my iPhone under contacts and I don't know that I'll be signing into Facebook's Messenger app anytime soon...unless there's more to come.
In the meantime, check out this guide on the (basic) ins and outs of the new app.
Have you tried out the app? What are your thoughts? Do you recommend it?
