So, I don't always reply to anonymous questions (which is kind of silly, since I have anonymous ask enabled). One reason is I like to keep plastickaiju as clean as possible for the toys. Another is sometimes the questions are a little too specific for a published answer. Most of the time anonymous asks are praise and thanks for the blog itself (which, I truly love and appreciate - don't get the wrong idea if I'm not publishing an anonymous reply).

I did get a couple of asks recently though, and I think they're something to address.

Yes. Yes, there are lots of sites for this. I still like browsing through Ebay the best because toy editions are so limited that many of the cool designs that turn up have had a out of circulation for years. For more of a direct handling on newer editions, you can check for designer and manufacturer sites and blogs. A good place to start is by checking the tags of a toy you like - It'll list the platform, artist, and manufacturer for most given works. Otherwise, there are major online outlets that give you a little taste of everything. I like checking http://www.rotofugi.com/toyscart/pc/home.asp and http://tofufu.com/

First, yes I am in the US. Second, if you want to make toys, you should! There are plenty of resources to help you figure out how you want to go about doing so. http://maketoys.tumblr.com/ is a great tumblr that features the work of many in progress toys, techniques, and reblogs from toy contemporaries. Finally, I do not design or sell toys... At least, not yet. 

I've always loved designer toys, and since I started plastickaiju, the desire to make my own has grown immensely. Beyond something casual - more of a career move sort of thing. Here's what I've been thinking about, and what I'd like to do: In a few months (time-schedule pending), I'd like to launch a big kickstarter. The incentives would be first pulls of toys along with limited edition copperplate prints, stickers, and a few very special toys using a truly unique material. The goal would be to raise enough money to start something of a company, and have a budget to sustain itself for a year. It's very early to really be saying any of this as it could change drastically, but I am currently working some designs and sculpts out as prototypes right now. IF this project goes through, and IF it is funded, I think one of things I'd like to do is have an open dialogue with illustrators, designers, and doodlers to see about having something of a crowd sourced toy platform. I think I'm starting to ramble now though...
