Just give me a chance!
She said, as I pack my things.
I won’t blow it again!
She said, with her fingers crossed.
But she forgot about the mirror behind her!

Plastic Promises || Set It Off
Image Description: The picture is of a window with open blinds in a dark room. Outside, there are the dark silhouettes of trees. The sky is deep blue. The lyrics are written in black with a white shadow. It says, “Tell me what am I to do with a double dose of you?”
Y'know those moments when you have shuffle mode on and two songs that are completely different just blend into each other?
Plastic Promises (Set It Off) leads into The Reynolds Pamphlet (Hamilton) strangely well

Fingers Crossed (Plastic Promises)
Day 3, oh yeaaaaaaaahhh. Sorry I’m really tired. This won’t end well will it? Anyway Day Three let’s go songs music YAY!
It’s Hamilton, taking place after Eliza reads the Reynolds Pamphlet. Time for sadness, children!!
Song: Plastic Promises by Set it Off
“Just give me a chance,” [he] said as I packed my things.
Eliza read the words another time, vision blurry from tears. Her husband had cheated on her. She grabbed everything important to her and threw it in a suitcase, grabbing what she needed for her children and throwing it in there also. Maybe she could be gone with the kids before-
“Eliza?”
Eliza slowly turned around. Why was he home so early?
“Honey, what are you doing?”
“What does it look like, Alexander?” Said a straight faced Eliza, “I’m leaving.”
“Come on, Betsey!” Argued Alexander (surprisingly)(ALSO FUN FACT: Hamilton actually did call Eliza Betsey, historically speaking) “Just give me a chance!”
But I already did, four times, don’t you remember?
Eliza stared at him.
“Alexander, I already did. Four times. Don’t you remember?”
Sarcasm was practically dripping from the usually sweet woman’s voice.
“I won’t do it again,” [he] said with [his] fingers crossed.
“Betsey!”
Alexander grabbed his wife by the shoulders to make her look at him then quickly let go.
“I swear I won’t do it again!” He cried with one hand behind his back.
Fingers crossed.
But [he] forgot about the mirror behind [him],
The one thing Alexander forgot about was the mirror that was behind him.
He forgot the Eliza could see he was lying.
That she knew.
I’m done with these plastic promises
Eliza glared at her husband and quickly turned toward her suitcase and finished packing it. Her and the kids could stay with Philip Schuyler, her father, until everything was properly sorted out.
She looked into his lying eyes once more.
“I’m done,” she said “With these plastic promises.”
Then the door was closed and Alexander was alone. Alone until his son ended up dead. But I mean that’s a different song in the musical so it doesn’t matter.
"Please don't tell me that we're fine I got too much on my mind Isn't this too plain to see? Maybeeeee Cause we've lost too much to gain We were dancing in the rain Tell me what am I to do, With a double dose of you?" -Plastic Promises by Set It Off
