Fics I don't know if I'll ever write but I'd love to Part 3.
Tim doesn't really exist, something created him post-Death in the Family in order to keep Batman engaged in The Mission
Playing with the dominant fanon idea that Tim doesn't quite "fit" somehow, this concept sees some higher power (let's call it The Universe) conjuring this black-haired, blue-eyed boy up from thin air as a means to keep Bruce in the Bat-saddle. Perhaps he's created from Bruce's very own mind.
A few little canon moments I'd spin into breadcrumbs:
Tim insisting that Batman needs a Robin,
Tim (a literal child) figuring out what virtually nobody else can regarding Bruce and Dick's nighttime work,
Bruce several times complimenting Tim on attributes that he admires in himself and that, tellingly, he feels he lacks,
The environment shifting again and again for Tim to make sense; changing schools, the death of his (equally conjured) parents,
Tim surviving the unsurvivable like falling off a dinosaur from a very great height (ahem, getting pushed)
Tim, who has his own free will with crucial limitation, threatening to walk away several times but never being able to.
Potentially also the age mumbo jumbo. Could be fun...
Any others, gang?
This would run parallel to a B-plot of Jason still being mostly estranged from the rest of the family.
Eventually, we work towards Jason being drawn closer to the family at which point the case for Tim's existence is...
:')
Let's all take a moment to reflect on how Dick would react to such a revelation.
