Loopy the tree monkey, half monkey half praying mantid (cartoon style) 🐒 made from upholstery ‘off cuts’ from a shop in Tribunal called Dellgalo in (Madrid) It’s one of the most difficult toys I have made because the fabric was so thick and tough to work with. Little walk along my street with Onika, design inspired by the African spoonbill. She is made from 1960’s vintage clothing materials saved from the dustbin in ‘El Rastro, Madrid’ I have yet to write a story for this character. Sustainability workshop at st.John and St.James primary school yesterday with year 1 (5-6yrs olds) we talked about endangered animals, what we can do to protect the environment and animals, how to look after each other, recycling, re-using & reducing. I told them my wonky story, showed them my recycled toys and then they created and drew their own wonky and wrote a story too. Lovely school, the teachers were supportive, the kids were really enthusiastic and fun to teach and they did some great work-it was Friday afternoon and they focused right till the end. Fantastic!!/Taller de sostenibilidad en la escuela primaria de St. John y St. James con el año 1 (5-6 años) hablamos sobre animales en peligro de extinción, qué podemos hacer para proteger el medio ambiente y los animales, cómo cuidarnos, cómo reciclar, reutilizar y reductor Les conté mi historia torcida, les mostré mis juguetes y luego diseñaron su propio torbellino y también escribieron una historia. Encantadora escuela, los maestros me apoyaron, los niños fueron muy entusiastas y divertidos de enseñar e hicieron un gran trabajo.
