#pixie witch hat

I’m enjoying needle felting, and am idly experimenting with using the needles to finish wet-felted (fulled) crocheted hats.  The needle makes them firmer, so I’ve been using it to stiffen the brims.  I’m also experimenting with adding a felt lining to the headband to make them warmer in winter.

Here are pics before and after the first attempt at felting.  Note: the colour stayed fairly similar; it’s the lighting that’s different.  Also after felting, it became fuzzier, which may make it seem more grey.  

Here is the hat after crocheting.  I added nylon monofilament to the brim to make it more firm.

Hat #1 again after a dyebath and one run through the washer and dryer.  The dye is “chestnut brown”, but it came out... dusty-rose-grey-brown.  Also, it shrank noticeably!

Here’s Mooglie wearing hat #3.  He is very confused.
