In the back of the baking cupboard is where the fruits of my summer growing are residing. The warmth from my constantly in use kitchen keeping them safe and it's the only room that frost never gathers on the windows. Lavendula and Valerian for insomnia, bergamot for fever, fennel for digestion, parsley for specifically female problems. My Viking bought me a braid of French garlic at the end of the summer to prepare for my sadness. He knew if I had something exotic to cook with I'd not be so devastated that another summer gave way to autumn and the leaves withered and died, the flowers went back into their green embryo pods, waiting for the hot sun to return so they could continue their rhythm of birth and unbirth once again. The forsythia at the back of the garden bares her pale branches after finally giving up the last of her green leaves. I swear when the icy winds kick up I can see it give and frighteningly human shiver. Linen slips giving way to wool sweaters and I close up shop in the greenhouse and invite the women who come to me into my home. My modest lounge with its Scottish grey walls, the dulcimers and guitars bearing witness to whatever counsel I can offer. My antique sewing machine is optimistically sewing muslin slips, flowered dresses, gauze knickers in preparation of the hot weather returning. All scattered in the calm chaos that is my style of housekeeping. Everything has a meaning and place in my house, even if it doesn't seem like it. And in the corners of our little pixie house, looking pas the straightened home sewn couch cushions you can see the slips of shadows as a tell tale sign that my home is a consecrated place. Where tea comes in jars and cards can tell you what you need to know. Where ghosts are very much real and wholly unfrightening. So what ails you? I have a tea for that.

The musician boyfriend returns tomorrow. Hooray! The house has been very tidy yet eerily quiet without him.
During the day I design greetings cards. I bloody love it! It's amazing. I get to draw all day for money. Working from home means I do get lonely from time to time, but on the bright side I don't have any office bitching or politics to worry about... And a very short commute!
I also provide black and white illustrations to Bunnycup Embroidery when I can find the time! Crafters buy the patterns and stitch them onto personalised things like baby bibs and beach towels with their very snazzy embroidery machines. I would love to know how to do that.
I thought I'd share a few of the recent designs. There are 12 in the whole pixie house set. If you happen to read this and you are a machine embroiderer, you really must check out Ashley's website. She's got hundreds of super cute designs.
